MGW Shifter Feedback Thread!
UPDATE***
I've driven my MGW for a few weeks now and it has loosened up perfectly. I think some of the problems with my shifting were caused because I had intentionally misaligned the handle bracket in order to avoid rubbing the boot excessively.
The thing shifts like butter in the AM. Unfortunately the hot afternoon sun or a heatsoaked engine causes the bushings to squeak and bind a bit, but I know George is working on getting the new bushings out.
I still highly recommend this shifter!
I'm just being hyper-picky in order to provide decent feedback.

Today I installed the perfect mod that really compliments the MGW shifter… A 93 Race tune from Bama Chips and a JLT CAI. I just can’t imagine having the tune without the MGW shifter. Not having any worries about where the shifter was going made hard launches and shifts that much sweeter. I love this shifter! And man will the car boil the skins with the Bama Chips tune!
I've been very happy with the MGW but it’s always felt a bit stiff, notchy and not as fluid as I thought it would be.
After talking to Bill I decide to switch out the MGW bushings with the OEM Ford bushings. I did that yesterday and I'm very happy I switched back. Took all of 10 mins to change out, actually it took longer to get the car off the ground then to change it out

So now the MGW feels silky smooth, very fluid, not nearly as stiff and not nearly as notchy. It’s really just right. Makes something I really liked all the nicer.
Life is good, especially every time I get into the princess and take her for a spin and run her through the gears

Just wanted to follow up with everyone. MGW = Good

The cost is $295 plus about $10.00 shipping... Worth every penny too.

I'm using the stock bushings and the MGW works great. The MGW kicks the poop out of the stock, Hurst, and Pro 5.0.
As far as another shifter ****, I couldn't handle a shifter with more metal than the gripper. Even the shift plate on the top of the gripper shifter **** gets hotter than four hells at 92F.

They are the ones between the MGW shifter and the arm that goes to the tranny. So the spot where the MGW shifter arm meets the stock tranny linkage, that's the spot with the bushings.
sorry guys i have been out of the office a few days this week. i am running our lotus exige s at VIR end of the month and am getting a bunch of stuff together for the race. ( trailer, slicks etc
the bushings are shipping to me today and i will start shipping them out monday. they will be more like the stock ones in design to allow for thermal expansion.
again i need to repeat these bushings have no added benefit over the stock white bushings that came on your OEM shifter. they are just a convenience. if you have the stock white ones on your MGW and they work fine there is NO reason to switch them out right away.
the shift ***** are also getting close . pics coming soon.
regards
george

"ring gaskets"?
George I put the stock bushings back in today and you are right, they work flawlessly. I did notice that one of the small rubber "ring" gaskets on the tranny linkage was about to break, though. Is that significant or not? I'm in Augusta for a couple weeks if you'd prefer I stop by.
Thanks,
Frank
