MGW Shifter Feedback Thread!
George,
Not sure about this ****. Certainly is different, but that shaft looks like it may be uncomfortable. I think it will take me some getting used to. No wonder it is taking so long to bring it to market. It is not just another screw-on ****.
If you need a tester, I volunteer!

Side note: LOVING the Gripper with chrome deluxe 5 speed pattern.
Didn't read all 24 pages, but saw one post about the Steeda shifter vs. the MGW, can someone give me a good comparison. I personally think my Steeda Triax has been great, but I also think it has been the cause of two transmissons 2nd gear synchros going bad.
It has aircraft quality and construction, is adjustable in **** height, **** position, and shifter throw length. It is the most complete kit I've ever see in a shifter, MGW even provides Dynamat sound and heat insulation, a blanket sound insulator, a rubber shield to prevent water from coming into the tunnel from under the car, a rubber boot for the upper part of the shifter body and all the hardware to do the installation.
The MGW shifter support rod attachment block is designed so that the rod can pivot when the tranny wants to twist under torque. No other shifter does that. And that's why the other shifters still miss 2nd to 3rd at high rpm shifts. The tranny twist under torque, the support rod wants to move with the tranny, but the rear of the shifter is solidly attached to the body and it wants to stay in place or move with the body and it causes the shifter to bind.... bad shifts result. A lot of the other shifter owners are going with the CHE K member brace with torque limiters to try and solve the problem.
The MGW is the better way to go... it will make your car shifting feel like you are driving a Ferarri compared to the other shifters.
BTW... my Steeda shifted very good and I was happy with it. The mistake I made was reading the first thread about the release of the MGW.
I'm glad I read that thread and bought my MGW.

Don't forget the MGW also has a lower dust boot too. I also moved from a Steeda to an MGW. I'm not afraid to speed shift anymore. In fact, before, I had to granny shift....period. Just get one, you'll thank us.
Thanks for the input. Seriously considering the switch.
hmm what is that aluminum finish? I'm just wondering if it will match up with the current items I have (SHR pieces). Also I was wondering if there would be a taller option? I'm betting not but just thought I would ask. I have been dying for this since I first heard about it but now that I'm looking at it something just doesn't look right to me. Although I'm sure it will be a hell of a work of art!

FWIW George (and it's not worth much) i wouldn't build/produce this ****. When i heard prototype for some reason i assumed it was the chrome ball with shift pattern, that would have been sexy, i'm just not feeling this shift **** at all and i wouldn't want you to produce anything that won't sell. But as they say, different strokes for different folks, maybe it's just what some are looking for.
ps- george don't take our comments to hard because honestly everything you create is a masterpiece so even if this isn't the look I was hoping for I bet it will still sell like crazy....
William... I had a Steeda TriAx in when I bought the MGW, there's absolutely no comparison in the two shifters. In my opinion, the MGW is EVERYTHING all the other shifters on the market ARE NOT.

that is why i have not wanted to post any raw pics. this was just a VERY rough outline of the **** to see if the molded radius halves would work right.
i have already finished SOME of the detail work with the billet part but again i am not quite done yet. still tweaking it!!!

here are some better pics... the **** actually feels VERY good in your hand and makes powershifting quite easy to do!!

Actually looking at these it is a drastic improvement. I figured the billet part had alot of work to do still but I had thought that the way the **** connected to the boot did not look good really especially due to the height. This however is much better with how the boot comes up and wraps around the bottom of the ****. I dig that far more then the rubber stopper on the previous. It definately looked like it would feel good always but you've sold me again on it. I personally would prefer it to be slightly taller (only about an inch) and the boot to sit a little lower (assuming you want my two cents). How long do you expect until the initial group buy? My apologies however on my continious critiques though I'll shut up now!
i am tweaking the design one of the things i am doing that you will like to hear...
to make the boot sit a bit lower. i am actually going to flare the bottom out a bit to hold the boot in place. this will acheive 2 goals. make the handle appear taller but not actually sit any higher. and secondly make the boot mate with the handle nicely.

i should have a final design by early next week.
