My Gripper shifter **** was pretty tight going on, just had to put a little bit of grip on it and it screwed all the way down. Nice and snug, no vibration whatsoever.

Just put the new progressive springs in. Piece of cake. Feels much nicer, taking if for a ride now. This shifter kicks butt.

Edit: Just got back from an hour drive, much better! I really like the progressive springs much better. It takes about 35% of the force to get into the outer gears, but still snaps to third with about 80% of the spring action of before.

I can't believe anyone else would buy another shifter besides this one, when you can adjust the shift throw, shifter height, shifter position left/right/front/back, and now even center spring force.

This shifter is a winner, anyone on the fence, you won't be disappointed.

I had the opportunity to sit in a new Shelby GT this morning and row through the gears (didn't get to drive it though). I am so happy I got the MGW shifter instead of any other. The shifter was so much louder and notchier feeling, not nearly as smooth as mine is. If course that's just sitting still, but I wasn't that impressed with it. I'll definitely keep my MGW shifter.

I just ordered my T-5 MGW shifter today. I'm looking for a black Hurst 5-speed shifter **** with the correct threads and the hurst logo on the side. I can't seem to find the 3/4 " 12mm. Anyone know where to look?

Thanks

Tell MGW that you want the 3/8-16 handle and you can put any of the standard Hurst or other aftermarket ***** on. I believe that they will send you either one.

That is part of the beauty of the MGW unit. It is so adjustable. Or you can pay them about $20 and have both handles and put any **** in the world on, depending on which thread you have connected to the shifter. I am loving this more each day!

MGW Noise

I seem to be one of only a couple people who has a noisy MGW shifter. I went back and went over TacoBill's and Got Oatz how too's for ideas. My Dynamat install looks close to their pictures and I used both sheets. The foam sound plate is snug around the shifter base, I used a paint stir stick to get it in place. The only thing I can think of is the support rod assembly, I tightened the support rod clamp bolts ***** tight. Is it possible that I over tightened these bolts and crushed the rubber end to the point that it no longer isolates sound? What are some other possibilities?

I know some who might think I'm a crack head because my MGW shifter is noisy but I assure you that's not the case. I would not trade this shifter for anything no matter what the out come though. I just think there has to be an issue with mine that I've over looked because so few have noise.

Thanks in advance

what type of noise are you getting ??

just tranny/wind road noise or rattling??

i have found that the best way to seal the noise is actually from under the car. bend the dynamat foil sheets to make sure the gaps around the oval body hole and the shifter base are sealed. this helps alot.

call me if you need some help or want to dsicuss what we can do .something has to be wrong to have alot of noise.

My support rod clamp is pretty tight with the rubber sleeve pretty crushed, and no noise. But did you tighten down both sides at the clamp evenly, a turn at a time? If it's cocked sideways, it might be rubbing. Also did you check all the nuts and bolts underneath, the two 10mm's nuts at the back and all? I'd check all the nuts/bolts and then go from there. Maybe get somone to shift for you while you are underneath to see where the noise is coming from.

I tightened each clamp bolt maybe 3/4 turn each until tight. I've been under the car a dozen times to change the throw length but I haven't checked the mounting hardware.

The noise is not a rattling, more like engine\exhaust noise. I'll have to try more Dynamat from underneath and double check all hardware.

Sorry

NJ3,
I apologize for the crack pipe remark, sounds like you do have a problem. I'm sure George will help you find it and solve it. Good luck, I'm sure you'll get it sorted out.

This shifter is not going to make the engine/exhaust noise go away, your going to hear some of that noise as you did with the stock shifter, just not as loud due to the dynamat. your also going to hear noise when you get a little lazy and not make smooth shifts.

The type of noises people complain about when getting an after market shifter is an increase in tranny noise and rattles while cruising due to the harder bushings and no rubber insulation in their shifters. If you have had pro 5.0, steeda, roush or hurst, you would probably understand why people say the MGW is so quiet.

The noise I have was not there with the stock shifter and most everyone agrees that the MGW is at least as quiet as stock. So I'll pick up some more Dynamat tomorrow and apply it this weekend.

Well..I received my T-5 shifter from MGW today. It is better than expected. Very nice packaging and instructions. I ordered it Wednesday and it arrived Thursday. Thanks George.

I also got a triple polished e-brake handle which is awesome. I was originally planning on a Hurst shift handle, but since I have a few "Roush" additions to my 95 stang I think I'll go with that brand.
Does anyone know where I can find a Roush shifter with stock 13mm x 1.75 threads ? Black & Chrome with Red Roush logo would be awesome.

Thanks

cole

MGW Shifter

I got my 3/8 x 16 threaded shaft and white Hurst ball. I like this combination much better. I wish I had gotten this combo to start with. Oh well, now I can use the ball or the OE **** depending on how I feel. Love the shifter!

Shift Ball

The one I got from Summit is sold by Hurst, but it just has the 5 speed pattern, no logo. You might check Summit, they had a lot of different shift *****.
