MGW Shifter Feedback Thread!
OK, just placed my order!! I placed it 2-day-air, so hopefully it will get here this week so I can install/test it before my next HPDE on 10/6!
Congratulations on buying the MGW... as Phil said, you won't be disappointed.
If you get it in time to install it this weekend... just take your time with the install and you won't have any trouble. Take your time with the Dynamax insulation top and underside of the tunnel. You will be amazed at the completeness and quality of the shifter... It looks better and is better than a factory install. It makes shifting your stang feel like it's a $100,000 sports car.
You will enjoy the shifter from the first shift.

Yeah, it looked like a solid kit from the pictures in Taco Bill's install.
I installed one in a buddies car this past weekend and then made him let me test drive it as I have been on the fence about getting rid of my triax and for starters the install was a piece of cake. No problems what so ever. I guess it helped that I had already installed one shifter before. I loved the feel of the shifter it was amazing. Next time he comes up we're going to mess with some of the adjustability of it.
PS--nice Avatar
Awesome shifter. I just finished my install last week. Be very careful when taking off the bolts and re-tightening them on the actual shifter linkage arm. They are very weak and break very easily with to much torque.
Planning to install on Saturday
If you happen to break the studs on the re-used factory linkage arm there's a quick fix. Grind off what may be left of the stud. Center punch the rod in the center. Drill and tap for a 5/16'' stud and loc-tite the stud in. Install a nylock nut. I've fixed a few including mine.
I still can't get over how bad azz this shifter is. My Triax had me trained to shift like an old lady. It's just so nice to keep the gas pedal mashed while nailing the next gear.

The avatar was a blast making. Looking forward to doing some more pics like that this weekend hopefully
Cool !!
I looked at mine briefly last night. What a difference between that and the Hurst. I can't describe well enough how solid it feels in my hands. It's heavier for sure but looking over it the quality is unreal. Can't wait to install

MGW Shift Settings
Received my MGW shifter yesterday and will install next week. I realize that there is individual preference on this but what is a good starting point. I'm thinking that six turns might be good but eight seems very popular.

I locked mine in at 7 turns, I know its an odd number but I like the number 7 and so far I like the throw and smoothness. All good for me.
Hey Stoenr, do you have to be a member to race there? Sounds like a good time!
Not exactly. There are groups that I get in with that rent the track for the day. http://www.mvptracktime.com/
Shifter is here, it is BEEFY
(Added the DVDR for size comparison--this does not come w/ the kit!)

I set it up for 8 turns out, going to install tomorrow morning
