Hey everyone. Hope nobody has washed away. We are breaking over 100 year old flood levels here. Hooray for rain! :(

tom281 6/10/08 02:34 PM

BlownPony306, welcome to the thread!

Where are you located? Hope you're doing OK there with the water and other messes that the storms brought.

70MACH1OWNER 6/10/08 02:37 PM

Yes welcome Blownpony306. We got it bad a few days ago but nothing like the people around Indy or up in Wisconsin.
Scott

BlownPony306 6/10/08 03:03 PM

Located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We are about 50 minutes from the Mississippi River here but have a fairly large river the runs thru the middle of our town. So far this year we have broken snow records, tornado records and now flood records.

GrnT 6/10/08 03:17 PM

Those are not good records.
Hi BlownPony

ov3n 6/10/08 03:51 PM

Did you guys hear about the lake that drained in Wisconsin?
http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=760060

dly 6/10/08 03:52 PM

Found my exhaust leak. It wasn't the h-pipe but the top bolt on the driver's side needed to be tighten and tighten. Had to buy the longest 13mm wrenches I could find. But I think all is well. Also the Prothane motor mounts make it feel more solid and more noisy. Tire rack is having a Car Show and a Battle of the Bands this Friday, I think I might be there.

http://www.summerx.net/June%2013th.html

Looks mostly like a ricer show but there is a class for Muscle cars.

Yeah you guys have been getting hit hard the last couple of years for sure. :shame: We don't have a basement and live out in the middle of "Farm country Ohio". I have been looking at building a tornado safe structure here at the house the last couple of weeks. Guess we are getting old and frail.

Yes I just showed that video to my wife about 30 minutes ago. That was 3/4 of a mile of solid ground and trees before this last storm. We as humans truely don't have a clue what can happen when Mother Nature gets mad do we?

This weather sucks. Had a thunderstorm come thru at 3:30-4:00 this afternoon and dumped another 3/4 inch of rain.

I'm not afraid of a bit of rain. It's the hail or and very strong winds that I don't want to get caught in.

really good! I plowed under my yard (weeds) and planted all new grass about 3 weeks ago...I'm still waiting for it to grow tall and thick enough to mow...Maybe i'll mow it for the first time on saturday.

red454 6/12/08 07:40 PM

Paid $3.92 for 87. It was $3.89 down the road and it was a madhouse.

Everywhere else it was $4.15

dly 6/12/08 07:50 PM

Man Do you know how hard it is to find a long handle 13mm wrench. Harbor Freight didn't have one, Sears didn't, and Snap-on doesn't have one. Finally I took a 1" Flat 10" long piece of steel stock and Mig welded it to good Craftsman 13mm wrench. Worked like a charm. Hey Scott how many of the stock studs did you use when you installed the LT's?

Hot and nice here today. Tomorrow 80% chance of heavy T-Storms.

Finally level out my stock exhaust tips, put a 1/2" of washers under the back blacket and put a longer bolt in. Looks good. I'm having problems getting those 4" tips from Aero. Right now I have 2 sets ordered, the second set might get here tomorrow, the first set the Sales Rep. quit e-mailing me last Friday when he took me they would be in stock to ship out.

Hey Tom you can tell me to pack sand but how much was the Photo Shoot????

I don't mind rain or even snow; but I've got the car looking really good right now and there's a show this weekend I'm gonna try to go to, so keeping it dry this week just makes life easier.

Sounds good...... mowing the yard actually gives me like three hours of free time each week; when it rains as much as it has been lately, I mow 2x each week so its like 6 hours of brain-dead relaxation LOL..... hahahahaa.

Photo shoot didn't cost me a thing; the magazine wanted it, so they provided their contractor down to take the photos. The only cost to me is if I decide to have some of the photos printed for my own personal collection, which I probably will because they are awesome! Plus, you can get them pretty much any size including up to 20x30, also even numbered and autographed by the photographer (Tracy Stocker). Tracy is known as THE GUY for automotive pix. You can see some of his work at www.prozakandtonic.com

Hey Darrell,
I didn't use any of the stock studs on my LT install. I used the Stage 8 locking header bolt kit. Why do you ask?

Had a hard time trying to remove most of them, left in about 3 or 4 per side and the headers slipped on ok. Just would like to know how many times I'm going to need to retighten??? Also what gasket did you use??? Stock, aftermarket or something special.

Darrell, for what it's worth I reused the stock gaskets and studs. I've not had any problems nor have I had any studs come loose. Been just at a year now since install.

Larry and I both used the gaskets that came with the OBX longtubes. Larry used the stock manifold studs on his. And like Tom said he used the stock gaskets (re-used) and stock studs. And none of us have had any problems. So the cheapest thing to do would be just re-use all of your original stuff.:nice:

The flames are from a Window Screen I got at O'Relly's. It's a sticker that I cut out small sections and placed them on a piece of tinted window cling material. That way they can be taken on and off.

So far its about 50/50 on good and bad ideas on another forum.

Waiting on Tom and Scott to chime in.

tom281 6/13/08 03:09 PM

Well, to be honest I don't like the stickers...... look kinda out of place if you ask me. Just my 2 cents though, you do what you want- you understand the theme that you got going. If it was my car I'd remove that dealer sticker too.

Tips are OK though.:nice:

Do they fit over the OEM Axel backs? If they do, I might consider a pair.
I have a set of stingers now but they would make the stock ones look better when I use them on long trips.

At the Awards it started to rain and they just called numbers. My car was #3, 3rd place was 58, second place was 17 and first place was 30. WTF?????. The then moved under a Tent to pass out the Awards, when they got to my class I wanted to see this #30. Well the guy misread the score sheet and the winner was me:grin:. A nice trophy and a gift certiflicate from the Tire Rack. Don't know how much, it says it will be e-mailed to me.
The bands sucked but it was a nice evening until it rained. Time to wash the car tomorrow.

Hell my exhaust tips were small compare to those ricers. You could have hide a small baby inside some of them. Still havn't decided on the decals but I like the tips. I got both pair it today. One pair say Aero Exhaust and the other say Aero Turbine on the side. Probably need to sell one pair of them.

Nick,
Got your mounts trimmed down today,I'll ship them your way Monday.
Are you planning on using the supplied allen head bolts? If so, I'll also include my cut down allen wrench, the pass side one is difficult to get to as it is directly under one of the primary tubes.

dly 6/15/08 06:48 AM

I'm going to the big MCA show in Ohio next weekend and I though I better read their tight rules.
I have 2 tripods that I display with a custom sign and a flag hanging from the 2nd one. I found the following rule. How do you read it as.??? No display or yes display. The class I'll be in is not judged but voted on by popular vote. The car is to new I guess.

9. Signs, displays, stanchions, etc. are not allowed on/in cars to be judged. Cars entered in Retired, Conservator or Thoroughbred classes or for display only are excluded and encouraged to provide displays. All Modified class entries must provide a minimum of one 8 1/2"x11" sheet listing all visible modifications to their car. At the owner’s option, a 1" spine, 3-ring binder may be used to list modifications. Good taste must prevail for all displays.

:doh::dunno::confused:

red454 6/15/08 07:06 AM

Well, I read it as since you are not going to be judged in a formal competition then you are fine to have signs, etc. I wouldn't think that popular vote would count... You are entering as display only, right?

dly 6/15/08 07:18 AM

Thats kind of the way I'm reading it too. Another rule is you must have a Fire Extingusher at your ready. Mine's mounted in the trunk, is this cool?

4. All cars must have an acceptable fire extinguisher available at all times. However, the fire extinguisher does not have to be permanently mounted in the car.

frdtch05gt 6/15/08 08:35 AM

Wow, I've never seen rules that strict before. That's insane.

red454 6/15/08 01:21 PM

You guys see this?

I know - it will probably be next week until I can get the stripes on. Rob at Baltimore Street Mods is on vacation... I actually laid sheets of white paper in two rows on it yesterday. Man, I need help.
