Morning all

Scott,
Great job with the vids, they all captured the sound well.
Sure did tone it down alot. Those ones actually 'muffle' the exhaust, big difference from the GTA's.

tom281 4/13/08 06:38 AM

crappy weather here, that's for sure :shame:

I'd look here first. Pick the wheel type you like.

http://stores.ebay.com/Brenspeeds-Stang-Recycler

And then I would look at takeoffparts.com
Scott

Stoenr 4/13/08 04:29 PM

I was thinkin of grabbing 2 of these just for the drag radials I already have
http://cruizinconceptswholesale.com/...D17X9A&cat=215
They at least are a close match to what I run now so it wont look that odd.

dly 4/13/08 05:57 PM

America Muscle was the same style of wheels about the same price plus 6% off if you know the discount code. Brenspeed doesn't have 9" wide wheels.:banghead:

Darrell if you do drag radials, you could always do the ET streets that Brenspeed uses and they work with the 8' tire.

Already have and used the discount code :D

Just let me know..... when I stopped by the local shop to have my M&H's mounted, the owner (long time acquantance) said he wished I would have told him I was looking for DR's, he has 2 sets of these that he ordered for Lingenfelter Performance (Corvette gods; their shop is here in town) but they backed out.

tom281 4/15/08 02:39 PM

That's good Scott!

I drove my car today, and I think that I've got the one wheel peel syndrome...... I plan to go back out in a little bit and test it out again- I wonder if my clutch bands in the rear end are bad. :dunno:

tom281 4/15/08 03:27 PM

Well, a five second burnout starting in 2nd gear and holding it provided about 30' worth of dual, thick black marks and some smoking Nittos. :dunno:

Tom,
Still here;)
Been popping in, just after my last 2 lengthy posts, got no words of wisdom:dunno:

Water leak appears to be fixed, had some good rain over last week & gave car a bath yesterday & all nice & dry inside.

Scott,
I'm glad you're happy with the Maggies. After listening to your vids a bunch of times & past few weeks of driving & finally hearing mine, I'm sticking with the current setup I've got. I'm sure the in-cabin tone is different between my coupe & your vert. Everyone has their preferences & I'm liking the snarl mine has now. I'll spend that 400 on some mounts, sequentials & suspension stuff. IF I recover from this upcoming wedding that is:doh:

Loving this weather, long overdue for spring.

frdtch05gt 4/15/08 10:36 PM

I had my car out all afternoon too, nice weather for it. It's supposed to be nice tomorrow too. :nice:

I got to drive the car today also Justin. At least to work and back. I hope all the rest of you Midwest guys got your Stangs out today. I bet you did. Seems spring has sprung finally for a few days anyway. My car got bird poop on it and I was smashing bugs on the way home this evening. But that is okay. On a different note, TacoBill finished his Vortech install- all except for the Boost A Pump (which he thought he didn't need because some people told him he didn't)...... and the engine blew on the test drive. Checkout the Ponies on the Run thread if you want more info.

I think you'll hit 13.3
No stickes? I was running 13.3 with those mods. Added O/R-H and DR's and hello 12.8's
and of course shifting like a mad man.

dly 4/19/08 03:39 PM

Hey Tom

Here's some more reading for you on charging

http://www.mustangforums.com/m_4945629/tm.htm

tom281 4/19/08 04:22 PM

Yeah I read all of that, and a bunch of other stuff too. My problem is that my wiring looks fine, there are no splices anywhere on any wire, it's a new alternator and still throws codes, etc. etc.

So now I'm wondering:

1) is the camshaft position sensor bad?
2) do I have a problem elsewhere that's tripping that sensor?

Funny thing is, both alternators charge up like a SOB, car runs strong, no battery issues (still on the stocker for almost 3 years) and all connections are tight.

Well I wish I could help you but I am a mechanic not an electrican. :banghead: Your problem seems to me not to be the alternator but something else. :dunno: I really don't understand how the cam position sensor can cause you to throw an alternator code but....... can you give me some more info?
Scott:nice:

Scott, research the TSB that Ford has out. A common problem on 05/06 alternators is that they go bad- when they start to fail, the begin to emit a tone (you can't hear it with human ears) and the camshaft position sensor picks this tone up and it faults out. The TSB will replace the alternator under warranty (assuming you don't have something like a...... blower...... or something like that hahahaaa)

This is why I went ahead and purchased a new alternator, however it didn't help.

One of my friends said today she expects a text message after every run I make to let her know what kind of time I run. I don't have slicks but I do have some pretty good shifting skills. Time to put my new Grabber Pony shift knob to the test.
