Hey Mista....sorry, trying to find time to get online...LOL! I will start Monday trying to find something out for you. If there isn't anything available, one of my suppliers WILL do a color match. Two things....One - they will need an actual sample of the color .... Two - there is an additional charge. But give me a few days and I'll see what I can find out.

I'm curious. What kind of prep is required before spraying the covers?

 

I guess I will have to wait until next winter to send you mine. Once I get the car I don't think I can handle taking them off and waiting to get them back, but I definitely want this done as well. They look great and can't wait to see more of you get them on your cars!

Milstang, your perception of the proccess is a lil' skewed. Actually Hatchman puts you on the list. Then when you get close, he'll pm you for payment. Then your covers will arrived painted.

All you have to do is take you old ones off, put on the freshly painted ones. Clean up the old ones and ship them back. done deal. Down time will only be the length of time it takes you to make the switchout.

Nope, not skewed at all. I think you guys have a great system. I don't have my car as the Shelby will not be out until this summer. That and I would prefer to get the ones that go on the 5.4 painted as I am not sure if they are interchangeable with the 4.6 ones. Plus I like the powered by SVT on the Shelby ones as well.

Therefore if I get the car mid to late summer I want to drive it for awhile before I take parts off and have to let it set while they are being made even better!

The 4.6 3v and 5.4 4v heads do not use the same covers but you can still be put on the list, powdercaoting is powdercoating after all.

Correct, I will get them powdercoated but I just don't have the covers or the car yet. I just don't want to be holding a place on the list and depriving others of that spot. Like I said, I will most likely wait until October or later when the car will be sitting more than me driving it.

Two Questions:

1. How much for the powder coating of the cam covers?

2. Was anyone having problems with vehicle performance one you took the covers off and put them back on? (from rumors)

 

The only way you can tell my covers were ever off is to look at the color of them. No leaks and no other problems. You really can't cause or have any problems. Unless you are just very rough taking them off and you in some way harm a cam lobe, a rocker or maybe break that sensor (I think it is the cam position sensor) and as far as leaks the gasket is reusable and if you place it in the cover correctly no leaks. Then hook everything back up correctly. All of the connections are different so it would be hard to hook something up wrong. With the way the coilpacks and injecter wires are bundled it would hard to put them back wrong also. Of course all of this is my humble opinion.
