Thanks, I've spent the better half of the morning reading all 16 pages, and I've copied anything that looked like tips or instructions. I'm thinking I could do this.

Only thing I've not seen so far, should I clean the engine/covers before I remove them? Looks like I have some sand/dirt all around, and I do not want to get that into anything. What's the best way to clean the outside first?

I also live in the Jacksonville area, wonder if it would be just as cheap to drive them over (along with the cai, and stb)???? In my other car

Hey Nole: I used a shop vac to clean debris off the covers, especially on the top side, before I removed them. I'm under a lot of stress trying to sell my house, and typically in a poor mood, so the job probably wasn't as bad as I thought it was at the time. I did remove the battery tray, and once I figured out how to do it, found it to be a very worthwhile effort. (Slide the jacket off first, then undo the strap, remove the battery, then 3 bolts for the tray.) The back and bottom cam cover bolts on the passenger side are then easy pickins. A U-joint for your socket wrench is very helpful. Also, I used a large diameter socket and a rubber mallet to pop the rubber inserts right out of the covers from the inside. Worked like a charm. If you try to pry them out, it will bend them up quite a bit. The rubber gaskets were easy to work with, and stayed in the groove of the covers while I reinstalled them. No leaks. The hardest thing is to get the covers back in without damaging the paint, though if you're powder coated, that won't be as much of a problem. Just remove/disconnect as much as you can. Most of the electrical plugs will only go back on one way, one place, so it's hard to screw it up. Good luck!

Yes, I like to use the shop vac to clean up any loose sand or debris before I start taking covers off an engine. I try to stay away from hosing it down with water, though I've been known to do that if the engine is good and cold and really dirty/dusty.

I would think it would cost more in gas than to ship them over. I know it would cost $150 in gas if I drove the Lightning to Jax and back. The fastest thing would probably be to contact Kevin directly, just PM him, and get a price, his PM is MorrisPowderCoating. He could probably cut you a package deal and get everything done at once the same color and then ship it back.

Heh, I did the same exact thing. Works like a charm.

Cool - Covers are off, and I'm direct shipping them over. It was easier than I worried about, but getting them off and around all the wires was a PITA. Now I'm real worried about getting them back on!

How does this sound - the same color as Krazed, and with a white pearl??? Remember I'm the one with the crazy blue/white interior......any thoughts before I ship them out on Friday???

Well, looks like this may be coming to an end, or at the least put on hold for a while. It seems Kevin may be getting out of the powder coating business all together. Seems the time spent on his powder coating along with his full time nursing job is costing him his marriage. So far the time being, I will refund money to all who have paid.

I apologize for all the frustration to those who have been waiting so patiently for their covers over the past few weeks/months. You have ALL been really great and very supportive during this whole venture, and I was happy to help people out with this great deal. But it's just not worth it to keep going if I can't get any information or get the covers out in a timely manner.

If something turns around, I'll let you all know, but for the time being, this project has to be put on hold.

Thanks for the kind words. It was fun to help folks out while it lasted.

Yeah, I got RICH off this allright! I'm $177 in the hole right now as a total since I just refunded $360 to the last three folks and I've already paid $195 to coat the last three sets. If I would have just stopped at set #25, I would have made a total of 18 bucks. I was just about to get a fourth set too.

I'll try and find something out. Don't worry, I'm sure he'll get them back to you. Kevin's a good guy, he's just having some tough times right now.

Hey Hatch.. are the coated covers spoken for already? If not, what colors are there? Maybe you can recoup some money? I would be interested depending on the coating / color used.

I'll shoot you a PM when I find something out, thanks! I'll probably just throw them on ebay and call it a day. They have been going for over $220 a set on there.

I need some friendly TMS'ers help/advice. I sent my own covers to Kevin at Morris on the 4th, he recieved them on the 7th, and cashed my check later that week. I received an email from him last week on Monday stating that they were done and going out on Tuesday Fed-ex and he would send me a tracking number. I've not heard from him since......I've called, emailed, etc....I even checked with FedEx, no record of anything coming to my house???

What would you suggest? I've been dead in the water for going on 3 weeks, I don't want to be a *****, I just want my covers......maybe someone live in his area could check to see if mine are just sitting in a box????

I'll keep checking with him, he hasn't anwered any of my messages either.

I will not go digging around his private property. That'll get you shot around here.

I apologize for the inconvenience, I know it is frustrating.

Well, this has gone to hell in a handbasket. From helping people out, to "Tresspassing on Private Property" and small claims court.

I'm definitely done with this.
