I'm working my way down the list, trying to contact people, sent derynf a PM. I'll keep everyone at the top of the list until I can get in contact with them. With the site down all the time, I don't want to push somebody to the bottom if they are still interesting. Thanks for your understanding.

The List:
18. derynf - "Super Mirror Black" Status: sent PM

Torrence, you are absolutely right. I'm afraid when the site went down, we lost a month worth of posts and I lost a month worth of PM's as well, so everyone I have added to the list over the past month have dropped off. I deeply apologize, since I did not have a backup list on my personal computer, or other forum, but than has been remedied. Also, Kevin is working on a setting up a Morris Powder Coating website, WITH a forum, so even if this forum goes down (again, and again, and again) we can still comunicate.

Here's a link to the new forum and thread, just getting it started, but it has The List. I will be moderating and updating it daily.

http://morrispowdercoating.com/phpBB...opic.php?p=2#2

Again, I deeply apologizing for loosing the past month of additions and not having a backup. Please contact me if your name is not on the list, so I can add you immediately.

So, back to business: taking the covers to Kevin today, getting them done Super Mirror Black for derynf, payment recieved, thanks!

Also, an addition for Redfire.

Got the most recent returned cam covers from Brad a couple of hours ago. I already have them prepped and they will be powdered and shipped out tomorrow. I just wanted to take a minute to thank the person that sent these in. I believe that it would have been 650? Anyway, these covers were COMPLETELY spotless and oil-free. The stickers had also already been removed. It sure makes the prep time go by SO much quicker...not to mention being able to get them out quicker. Now, it isn't necessary for you guys to go to this much trouble...but it sure is appreciated!!!

Thanks!!

Okay...the latest covers were completed and shipped yesterday. Here are a couple of shots of them. I absolutely LOVE the mirror black. On the close-up it has such a reflection you can almost miss the fact that it is black!!

Also, like Hatch mentioned before...I've added a forum to my website. Please feel free to come check it out and register. It will be a great place to ask any powder coating questions. We will also keep an updated list for the cam covers there as well. It will also list order status so you will know exactly where your covers , or any other part, are at!

Thanks,
Kevin

In case anyone was wondering about time and tools to swap them out. I used a little 1/4" socket wrench, an extension, a 7mm(ignition coils), 8mm(cover bolts), and 10mm(air box hold-down bolt) sockets, and a screw driver. I also laid some towels over the fender to protect it from scratching.

First of all, I loosened up all the cam cover bolts, about a dozen on each side. Then I loosened up the 4 bolts holding on the ignition to the cam covers. Had to pop off all the vacuum lines and a couple of electrical connections. Then move all the ignition and other wires out of the way. On the driver's side, I had to remove the intake. Some people removed the battery tray for the passenger side, but I found this unnecessary.

The cam covers came right off, slid forward, up, and out of there. The thick rubber gasket is pretty tough, and reusable. No gasket sealer used by Ford or needed.

I ended up taking the oil neck off of my right side cam cover. The stock oil cap snaps right into its place, same thread pattern, and I think it looks better, though harder to fill without it, but I have several funnels. If you want it off, just let me know, it pops right off, though it's a little difficult.

Took me about 3 hours to swap mine out, but I'm really slow, and take my time, and clean stuff as I go. I'm sure the more mechanically inclined with an electric screwdriver with a socket attatchment could possibly swap them out in 30 minutes. Even less if you have a buddy helping. It's pretty easy though, if you can take out thirty bolts and put them back in, you can do this. Just be careful not to cross thread the bolts putting them back in, and I recommend putting in the bolts on the ends in first.

Hope this helps.

Castrol Super Clean works pretty good, or just about any degreaser would work, even brake or carb spray cleaner. If nothing else, even good old soap and water.

What's your favorite? I'd have to say my favorite so far is the Translucent/Candy Blue. I LOVE my rims.

Also, I'm working on trying to get another set of cam covers in the rotation. If anybody has any leads on someone who bought a Ford Racing set and want to get rid of the their stock covers, please let me know.

Does anyone know if the Ford Racing ones are shiny or a matte finish. Would reflective chrome be more shiny than the silver Ford ones?

Donna,
I can't answer with 100% certainty, but from the pictures that I've seen they are a shiny finish like our reflective chrome. They advertise selling their covers in a powder coated blue, black wrinkle, and a chrome looking finish. The amazing thing is not that they are asking $249.00 for a set of powder coated cam covers...but that they want you to ADD another $126.00 for the chrome looking finish! I just can't imagine why!

BTW...thanks for joining my powder coating forum!!!!!! We will keep the list updatd there as well and also have shipping info.

I'm hoping. The boss leaves town today, I should be able to swap them out after work. I'm hopng it doesn't take that long to do. Otherwise I'll have to wait until Saturday to swap them out. I don't want to make everyone wait that long.
