Could you do a set of cam is Sonic Blue? I've seen the candy blue and it looks close but not that close. Also I would like to have my C&L intake tube done also. Could you please let me know. Thanx

Candy Blue is the closest we've found in a powdercoat to Sonic Blue. Obviously, we would have done Red Ryder's in Sonic Blue powdercoat if it existed. There may be a company out there that could custom mix a batch of Sonic Blue, but that would probably require a paint sample and extra costs, maybe around 50 bucks or more extra. If you're really interested, we could check into it.

That is correct. I can have my supplier make a color that will match a custom color as absolutely close as possible. What they need, however, is a piece or part of something that is painted the color to be matched. Brad and I discussed maybe applying some Ford touch-up paint to a piece of metal and sending that off. We would just have to make sure that the touch-up paint matches! Sometimes even the dealer stuff can be off a little bit.

There would be an extra charge for a special ordered powder. How much exactly I can't say...it would all depend on how involved the matching process got. There is also a minimum amount when doing this. I think it's only a couple pounds or so...so that wouldn't be too bad if enough were interested.

Just got off the telephone with one of my powder suppliers about the custom color. He feels like since the Candy Blue is so close to Sonic Blue he shouldn't have that much of a problem matching. Again, the extra charge is unknown right now. I was told that it would range anywhere from $40-$120.

Guess we will need to pick up some Sonic Blue touch-up paint and send it to them. Will let you guys know as I find out anything.

IMHO, I don't think it's worth the extra cash to match it up better. The candy blue is a little brighter, but it's just enough to make the engine bay bling.

I prefer the Candy Blue over a color matched Sonic Blue......

Thanks for the input!! I was hoping that you would shed some light on exactly how close that the colors are.

Any new word on the car??

Well my car got a new cam position timing sensor, but that did not fix it. They ordered some type of engine solenoid valve. The guy at the dealer wasn't very informative. I'll find out more on Monday.

This latest set looks great. It's hard to believe every set that comes out looks the best. I guess I'd have to see them all side by side to really decide, but this gold with metal flake just looks awesome. I think if I did mine over again, I would do this color. It compliments the Mineral Grey very well, where mine just matches all the other aluminum bits I have. I think this gold metallic would look great with just about any color.

Also, Kevin is going to start putting another 30 minutes of prep time into the covers to get some of the casting marks from where the covers came out of the mold. This gives a smoother, more finished product and like I said, they look GOOD! Kevin's doing this extra prepping free of charge, which is pretty darn cool of him. They just keep getting better!

One pic is on the hood, compared to Mineral Grey.

They will be sent out early tomorrow morning, enjoy!
