Couldn't find the weight of the fully dressed 2.5 with turbo and intercooler.
For starters the Sti has both a front and rear differential so that adds more weight. The turbo is bigger and I believe has a bigger intercooler and the suspension is beefed up considerably which would also add weight. The tranny probably adds a little weight as well. The wrx weighs in less and didnt get the 2.5 till 2006 (could be off a year). Either way I don't think you really need a big intercooler and a huge turbo to make 300hp with a four banger. The mazda speed3 makes 260hp and 280 torque so better tuning and tweaking could produce the extra power. In the end though turbo cars aren't as reliable as N/A cars so it's probably which would you want more. More modability by sharing a turbo from the focus or keeping reliability as it is and use a N/A v6.

If you look back we were talking about weight reductions with a turbo 4 as opposed to a v6 and which would be easier to make power on as well as after market support for the engine itself.

Lol I still think this thread should end and just wait to see what ford will do to minimize weight and to see what they do to the engine line ups. I still feel it's way to early to even start talking about it till 2014.

Funny thing is that might be true.

The C7 gets 30mpg from a 6.2 liter.

If we get weight reduction in the neighborhood of 200lbs and increased aerodynamics, we'll see 28 mpg. If they also add DI, which is possible, we'd see an additional 10% +/- increase in mpg, which would put it over 30 mpg.

Bare in mind that's with cylinder deactivation. Have that been confirmed or just GM saying that? Much like the new Z28,"being X amount faster around X track then the zl1", I'll wait to see the proof before I believe.

The C7 getting a claimed 30 with cylinder deactivation bares no weight on the Coyote's potential to also get 30. As it sits, it is rated at 26 highway. Remove 200 lbs, improve aerodynamics, you'll be closer to 28. Add DI, it will get 30. Cylinder deactivation would push it even further, but I don't like CD anyways.

I fully believe the 30 mpg claim on the Vette.

Yep...30 shouldn't be hard to achieve. But with the weight loss and possible extra power. Who's gonna keep their foot out of it?

Eco-boost Problems?

I just heard and read 400k Ford's Eco-Boost 6cyl in the F150 and Taurus is being recalled. Isn't this a similar power plant planned for the 2015 Mustang?

No. The '15 Mustang EcoBoost engine will be a 4-cylinder, and so far it's only planned for European "consumption", meaning not for US sale

I thonk were gonna have revised motors but the same line-up with the v6, v8, and rolling coffin motors. It would be nice to see a single turbo sixxer pushin close to 350-375 to the wheels though. Or an EcoBoost 4 and bring out the SVO for some new light

No ford wouldn't make the base model have a turbo. Haven't anyone realized that every v6 of the same generation needs FI to be slightly faster than a stock GT? If it was a turbo 6 then people would just by the v6 and raise the boost to equal or surpass the v8 with less money spent, and I don't think ford is going to be that nice to people and let the base model cut into the GT's sales.

I doubt they will do that because if you tune it you'll get around the GT's hp an torque ratings if not more. There never going to make it so the base model can't match the performance model with just a tune. Haven't anyone realized every v6 had to get fI to be slightly faster than the stock GT of it's generation?

Is Ford gonna drop the 3.5l EcoBoost in the next Stang... if so, what the hell are they gonna call the trim for it? SVO-R?
