OK, maybe not. That would suck huge hairy *****. Lol

That specific transmission of course not. Its built for low torque/efficency applications.

But eventually I would bet they will offer a 6 or 7 speed DCT.

Or get in bed with Mazda again as they've managed to make sort of a hybrid of your typical transmission and DCT.

I know the 2.0 I4 is similar to mazdas new skyactiv 2.0. Ford probably didn't want to go the transmission route that Mazda wanted, though.

I think the 3.7 is based off the Mazda 3.7.

I really likethe higher rev lines in the 11+ motors, and you get tourqe all the way through. Mazda texhs and ford engineers should just have one magical baby

The Mazda 3.7 is based on the Ford 3.7

I was thinking it was the other way around since Mazda's was in production for the 2008 model year. Ford's wasn't released until 2011 model year.

But I trust your judgement.

Either way it was a joint effort.
I thought I read that the Mazda V6 was based on the Ford engine, the dates don't make sense now.
I'm pretty sure the article was about the 3.7 but it might've been about the 3.5
Don't know why Ford would allow the 3.7 engine to be installed in a Mazda before a Ford though.

Now I'm all confused, lol.

The specs are different. So it could be Mazda chose to use a less advanced version and ford improved on it.

The Ford 3.7 was offered as a Lincoln only motor to begin with. ('09 MKS) I don't think the 2 motors (Mazda) are the same. Probably wrong.

Just talked to my dealer today, was looking at trading in for a '14GT. They said that Ford is telling them the new V6 is supposed to be around 350hp and the GT will definitely be in the 450-500 range.

The GT won't be much higher than the vette, more likely to be about the same imo.

Stock 500hp GT - I'll believe it when I see it.

And if there is a glimmer of truth in that, get ready to be legally raped by your favorite stealership, no way a dealer would let a GT go at a reasonable price with about as much standard power as a Z06 or 60 more than a Boss Mustang.

Yep I wouldn't expect them to add 70 hp to the GT, the new corvette only went from 430-460 and the camaro went unchanged. Ford really has no reason to add that much, I say 450ish.
