I would be shocked if the redline was anywhere near that high. The 2.0 in the Focus ST is 6500. I can't imagine the 2.3 being too much higher than that.
They put a smaller turbo in the ecoboost engines so it spools up faster. The downside of that is that it runs out of breath earlier. You see the same thing in the Mazda turbo which I had in my CX-7. It doesn't have a crazy high redline and the power really starts to drop off well below the redline anyway.

Would cost too much to safely rev it to 8000+ and warranty it. Valve train alone would be crazy expensive to spin that high

Sick definitely. My cobra will spin 8200...nothing crazier watching the tach swing all the way over. Could see the next SVT Cobra pulling that

If there going to drop Shelby for sure, and roush keeps making there version. What is really going to be the difference between roush and some new cobra. Roush already upgrades the suspension and throws a supercharger on it. I would think svt would do pretty much the same thing. Unless the cobra has a bigger motor they might be almost identical to each other. Anyone have thoughts on this?

I'm not sure I understand, hasn't it been this way for a long time now? SVT or Shelby have been competing along side Roush, Saleen, Steeda, etc.

The Shelby is always way out front with the hp numbers. What I mean is if the 5.8 won't fit anymore we're going to have god knows how many versions of the 5.0 with different superchargers slapped on it. I just don't want to see roush, steeda, ect, and the cobra so close in numbers. You would think svt would have to make a new motor so there is still a decent gap of hp between them.

Before the 2013 went into warp speed with the hp. The Shelby and Roush were close. Roush had 525, Shelby had 550. And before the Shelby the roush and Saleen were available with more hp than the SVT. But back in those days the Cobra was much cheaper. Now they are close in price. If ford drops the Shelby name, the Cobra will be a step above the Roush. But don't be surprised for it to have a Z28 price tag

Ya I think the prices are going to start getting out of hand. They kinda are already. I guess will just have to wait and see. I wonder if roush and them are going to wait a year or so to do there version of the new car.

They get a car early. And usually have something at the same time.

Im sure they pay much more to get em early, plus not included with warranty since they tear em apart as soon as they get em. Like kids with christmas boxes

Absolutely. What helps Roush and Saleen helps Ford.

Don't worry. The trinity engine will live on for a short while more and later SVT will use the flat plane V-8 Voodoo engine. Saleen and Roush will just be supercharged 5.0s with badges. Believe me it was EZ to make one!
