"Ford, which builds approximately 160,000 Mustangs each year, will offer only 6,500 Mustang Mach 1 special editions. Each Mach 1 will come with a unique serialization found in the vehicle identification number (VIN) to ensure exclusivity and collectibility."

I would love to see the reaction of as many current and former owners of 2001 Bullitts, just out of curiousity.
I have a 01 Bullitt and see nothing wrong with another Bullitt run. Ford never stated they would not repeat the Bullitt Special Edition. What they did say was the headaches involved with getting name rights from WB would make the cost prohibitive. Obviously they have reached an agreeement. It does not lessen the added value (as if there is any) of my car. I bought to drive and enjoy. In about 10 years my car MAY be a collectors car. Also as the Coordinator for the Bullitt Nationals it can help us to continue to have successful national events for some time. As long as it is not just a name plate and 5 horsepower over a GT, most current Bullitt owners will be happy.

That appears to be the original plans and along with other bits of information led me to believe a 13,000 production would be the set goal which still felt short of the actual numbers. Ford did the right thing in building as many as the public wanted to buy and should do the same for the GT500, the Bullitt, as well as other SEs to follow.

It could be easily be interpreted at 6,500 per year.

Like the idea for the steering wheel as well. Maybe make the spokes a little slimmer, though. Nice solution towards making the interior different from other Mustangs without going to extremes.

If they were planning a 2008 theatrical release for a new Bullitt movie, they would have to be into development (if not pre-production) by now.

They are not. No rumblings...no rumors...no "nothing", sadly.

I've always liked this interpretation (I believe it was created by Vyto02):

More than probably, I doubt Ford wants more than 3 different engine styles.

PS how many liters of displacent is 390 cu. in.

Dout ford will make engine big in production. Unles Chalengur komes with big engine, me no see reeson to use big engine
Translation: Obvious

Doubt Ford will make a big block engine in the Mustang, unless the Challenger comes with a 6.2L engine, I don't see a reason to have that option. Especially when we saw the death of the Hurricane engine.
