Bullitt coming in '08!!
To me. Just another 4V 4.6 will be nothing special. Now a 5.4 3V or 4v would be. It really doesn't matter that it has a Iron block. It would be truer to form to have the big torque motor in it. The car in Bullitt was a bigblock 390. Not a little lightweight high revving motor. And if you can drive you won't have to worry about the weight. I used to eat Corvettes for breakfast in my 69' 390 Cougar in the turns. Use guys sound like the same type dieing for IRS when the solid axle works great. It seems to be winning a lot of races against cars with IRS. Give us a motor that doesn't need 4.10 gears or better just to perform. To me the 5.4 is the deal. And it would be about time they put it in the Mustang. We were all crying for a 351 back when we had a 302. Instead they gave us a smaller 281. Which was slower not faster than the 5.0 For once I'd like to see a decent sized motor under the hood. And remember guys. The guys from the other side of town are going to be packing some serious power, 6.2L or better motors. Time for Ford to step up to the plate and protect there territory.
The 5.4L should of been in the Stang GT a long time ago! Ford needs to deliver! Give us Mustang loyalist what we want and deserve.
But, we shouldn't have to pay $40k or more for it.
If GM can sell a 400hp GTO for under $34k, then Ford can sell us a 400hp SE Mustang for the same price.

Well, if you can drive THAT well, you don't really have to worry about much of anything, I suppose. But, all other things being equal, weight is a handicap on a twisty mountain road.
Well, they already have, I guess: it's called the Shelby GT500. So what I hear you saying is that you want to see a normally aspirated version of the 5.4L powering the GT500...in the Bullitt.
If it can make 385 to 400 horses, I'm all for it.

We are defiantly seeing an escalation in the size wars, but we (Ford) have to ensure we don't end up like GM who thought that displacement would win the market and look where they are now. With that being said I think that SE's should get the most radical bad *** motors and set-ups available to them as that helps ensure exclusiveness. JMO
I have heard some things about the '08 Bullitt but unfortunately I can't say anything or else burn some bridges.
Since Ford said it I guess I can say it will happen but that is about it. I think it will be a nice change like our original Bullitts were to the standard GT.

This is a big one! So lets disect it for the benefit of those who just concluded the TGIF's happy hour.
Are we to assume the intent of your post is to let us know that you know something about the '08 Bullitt you can't let us know about?
These are confusing times, aren't they?
Anyways, if you were to read the rest of the post before trying to come up with a cute reponse you would see what I was trying to say without really saying anything to get myself into any trouble.

Know what I mean?
So if I'm to decipher your meaning from reading between the lines of your above post, you're making it sound as though the '08 Bullitt upgrades will be modest cosmetic and performance enhancements.
We will continue to cling to the hope that this car will get a significant power increase and some substantial suspension and cosmetic additions so that the '01 will seem like nothing more than a watered-down imitation of the forthcoming '08.
How's your bloodpressure?
Guys try not to set yourself up for a downer if you find out it doesn't have a huge engine or anything.
I have a gut feeling it will follow the heart of the 2001...
Which in itself was a great friggin car that I still wish I had bought...

Many were expecting the Boss to fill that gap...and instead Ford surprises us with the announcement of a Bullitt instead. And it ends up being another underpowered theme car?
Something doesn't add up with that. If you're right, it would mean we would have to wait until '09 (or later) for an "in-between" car.
Plus, '08 is the 40th anniversary of the film.
Of course, I could be completely wrong, and Ford could disappoint us horribly, in which case I'll have to start
again.
So much for dignity and self-respect.
