The mileage is coming a lot from the 6th gear. The GT500 gained 2mpg highway from revised 6th gear only. Check the mileage of the Z06 sometime, all in the gearing and weight.

The interesting thing will be if the 2011 GT500 can maintain the 22mpg from the increased HP which I am sure it will get?

I don't see why not. Any additional HP will be from WOT tuning. The engine at cruise should turn the same numbers. Don't forget it's lighter, might even go up to 23.

I would hope so. My GT500 gets 24MPG on the highway.

Torque is 390

Peak HP comes at 6,500 RPM

This car is going to be a blast to drive.

And, while we're on the subject of twin turbos and output per litre...

Ford Ecoboost 3.5L (Taurus SHO): 104.29HP/L
BMW 4.4LTT: 90.91HP/L
BMW is making 414hp out of its normally aspirated 4.0 Litre V8 M3 motor, or 104hp/litre. BMW's 4.4L TT is in the X6, with the X6M the 4.4TT now puts out over 550hp or 125hp/litre.

Yeah but how much is a BMW with that motor? I realize the 5.0 is not the most efficient engine in the world. It's looking like a **** good one though.

You're going to have to swap the computer too. The computer runs the whole car, so you may need the smart junction box too...

And trans, and radiator, probably a million other things. Swap would be pointless.

Is this it? This is in the TMS Photo Gallery under 2011 GT.

Is that a 5.0 badge blurred out? If so, I'm slightly disappointed there are no different facias on the 2011

No, that's a 2010, same thing they did when the V6 info came out. We'll see the production model on the 28th.

Even if it were the '11 (it's not) why would you be expecting different fascias?

They'll do some minor tweaks, I'm willing to bet on it. I've seen different mules running with a modified hood, not sure which model they were for though.

Why not? It'd be nice to be able to differentiate the 2010 and 2011 from more than just a 5.0 badge. New front and rear bumpers would be a relatively easy mod for Ford. I assume the 2011 V6 uses the 2010 GT rear bumper as it now has the twin exhaust setup.

All I'm saying is, I don't see why TMS would show this (today of all days) in the 2011 GT photo gallery

Oh you are so right...I'm thrilled what Ford is doing...please don't take my post in any other way. I never expect Ford to make a 5.0L motor that has individual throttle bodies and a 8400rpm, why when they can get the same performance with less. Also, the E9X M3s get horrendous mileage...14city/20hwy. A 2010 GT500 gets better mileage than this car.

I dunno. The '05 design went five years with nary a tweak. Why would we see a new fascia after just one model year?
