Oh camaro5 is so funny. ->But...but...its still gonna have to gain 300lbs to meet safety requirements so it doesn't matter and its still 14hp less.
It is hilarious how people must try to justify that one car is better than another and when it comes out that the mustang has way more power than most of them thought it would (thinking 375 max) they pull that safety requirements crap with no evidence other than what a GM insider said once 2 years ago and that the camaro was so heavy bc of them.

Its going to be an awesome year for not just the mustang but for pony/muscle car fans everywhere. Can't wait to see what else will be done with the GT500 other than AL block.

Trust me, a lot of people had this info, and there's a lot more coming (embargo). We'll know a lot at Detroit. The numbers are legit.

Boomer, I believed. I'm focusing on the rating. Everyone knows official ratings sell a lot of cars. Whether or not the engine is underrated only matters to enthusiasts like us on this board.

I can't wait to hear what's inside this beast!

This 5.0L V8 is the "Coyote"; "Road Runner" is the competition version you'll see in the 2011 Boss 302R!

I know a few other bits about the motor, but nothing that I can divulge right now. I got the full scoop at about 5pm today.

the Camaro5 guys are slightly mis-informed on the F5 safety/weight issue - It's true that there is some substantial structure for safety reasons, but the F5 also is based on a full size car plaform and slavishly follows the show car, both of which added unwanted mass to the car that does little to enhance safety itself. The S-197 on the other hand is more of dedicated chassis and the show car was based primarily on the production car.

The Mustang might gain some weight, but its not going to be anywhere near the weight gain that was required of the F5.

Anyways I've saidf it elsewhere and I'll say it here.

The '11 Mustang and current Camaro will make for some interesting racing (on paper it looks like the GT will edge out the SS in acceleration). However in the impromptu world of stop light to stop light racing, despite its bulk, the more accessible power of the SS will surprise alot of '11 GT guys.
