If the stock intake is as restrictive as it looks, and there is all this talk about improving the air in and out of the motor, I think an intake may be a worthwile investimate. It also may up the highway milage.

We will just have to wait and see.

It may look restrictive, but from what I've been reading, there isn't much gain from adding one on a 2010. If that's the case, it sounds like Ford won't go back to not using that 'cold air induction' that they marketed last year. I'm all for better performance out of the factory.

All in all, the tune is going to net the biggest gains. That rumor of 468 may be tuned for optimum efficiency, so we might have that to look at as a potential number to shoot for.

Not sure I entirely agree with that. Since this is a new motor, they will want to leave room for easy power bumps in the future. An intake swap is a good place to do that. They don't need to use any special marketing terms like "cold air intake" when they can say "all new 5.0L motor"...... man, I like saying that.

See attached pic:

It's got the CAI system that the 2010 had, designed for the new motor. I'd be interested to see what the IATs are for that design, but I'd imagine it works better than the older intake designs. It seems lately as I said before that Ford is trying to give owners a lot of improved component designs to minimize any potential for modding (although that's a joke) but it also makes the casual driver more content with the power output.

Well my other idea for an SE would be a 4.2L V12 making 600hp with an 11k redline and an 8 gear DSG

Hmmm..... I'm not saying that the coyote doesn't have potential (gotta look at the compression and cam specs as well as flow figures), but I think the big gains are gonna be with a set of nasty bumpsticks along with a matching tune to take advantage of shifting the powerband up. Easy bolt ons will probably yield little in power (Ford has said the 5.0 has a much improved exhaust system)

For comparison's sake, if GM was making the same power with the 6.2 it would be cracking the 500hp barrier.

I was talking about the 6.2L badge that people were thinking is what the 5L badge will look like.
