The unit is used, but it is in perfect condition. The guy has 104 ratings all excelent. I had my unit with in a week of buying. I have no complaints at all. it depends on when your cluster was manufactured. according to a dealer there are two part numbers for the Clusters. one goes up to 1206 and then the one for 08 up. Since yours was made in jan 07 more than likely you have the older model cluster. i am just guessing here, but I am pretty sure that they are not running on just in time for parts. the speed error is not a big deal it is just an extra warning you have to click ok to. The nav unit still functions fine.

bee bop and/or others that installed the nav's, how did you verify your shaker 500 (or 1000) is still functioning entirely? I think I might be installing a nav unit sometime soon...

Looks like all worked out for you, so was that a used unit you got? looks like you can see some minor scratches on the screen, or is that just the pictures?

I believe that is the pictures. I don't notice any scratches when I look at it. The screen was dirty when I took those pictures. I need to clean it good.

I also bought a factory nav from the same guy bee bop did....FORD-GPS-NAVIGATION-RADIO-ANTENNA-6P-DVD-AM-FM-ADPTR

It was a true plug and play install! Worked perfectly with no error messages. my old radio even had the new/different style antenna plug, so the adaptor was not needed. all the subwoofers work as well as the AUX.

here's a few pics....

Thanks for the follow up guys - installs look really good. I'm seriously considering one from the same guy as both of you, it is kind of on the high end of the spectrum for 'used' units, but the his guaranteed to work or money back promise, latest nav disc, and gps antenna together as a package deal is a major +.

I have a April '07 build date, so hopefully I have the later cluster. Crossing my fingers for no speed error!

Finally got mine reprogrammed, and for free!

I went to a dealer close to work, and they were able to pull the programming off of a stock car with the nav and update mine. Speed error is still there, but I expected that. It is nice that I've got DSP again, and both an SR (Sat Radio) and Aux input tap on the media screen, that weren't there before. I don't have Sat, but now I can use my ipod when I want to.

And lights on the buttons, how great is that! I could never read them at night before, without turning on the map lights. Wooo hoooo!

Who did you go to? What is the dealership's name and number?

Maybe I'll send mine to them?

Cheers

I don't think they'll do it free on a mail-in, I just drove up there this morning expecting to be charged for an hour labor, but when they were done he just handed me the keys, a printout of the codes they programmed it with, and said "Have a good day."

The dealer was Gaudin Ford in Las Vegas, and Scott at the Custom shop in the dealership is who did the work.

TcodeV8, the date on the working clusters is anything after March 07, you might be good.

bp7260 posted his dealers findings in post 196, earlier in this thread.

Jay that is excellent news if March was the cutoff Would be my luck that I got a random "leftover" cluster though. I decided to chance it, if I only have the speed error I can deal with that (for the money saved vs. buying from Ford or having ot replace the cluster).

Well I pulled the trigger on one this afternoon, so I will post a follow up with my install here. Looking forward to this mod.

Yeah, I've still got the speed error, but it's no big deal. If I wanted to get a newer cluster I'd also either have to give up or move over my custom guage faces (got silver USSpeedo guage faces last year at SEMA free).

I might do it later on. Maybe I can find someone with a newer gauge cluster that wants to swap. They get the siver gauge faces, I get a cluster that works with the nav system.

My understanding was the instrument cluster part number changed mid December 2006. (This from KC).

Talked to KC today, he says he has a new programmer on tap for the NAV units and to sit tight! He has launched his old flaky guy.

I'm planning to hold on to my unit a bit longer and give KC a chance to fix my problem (understanding that my NAV error won't be going away)

I'm considering buying a Bullitt cluster anyway... now wouldn't THAT look nice and get rid of my error at the same time? Bonus!

Looks like I've got a problem with my nav system. I dont' know if it was happening before the reprogramming, but afterwards it never truly shuts down. the lights keep flickering after I turn it off, the modules aren't really sleeping. I've got it in at the dealership now because the battery keeps getting drained, happened twice over the weekend even. I just got it re-programmed, but this was happening before it was reprogrammed too. Since I didn't buy it from an authorized Ford dealer, my dealership is saying they cannot warantee it, but they're looking into it further. If I have to put the stock Shaker back in and see if it is still happening before they will fix it, I will, or if I have to re-program the nav again I will. This is just frustrating, and I really don't want to get rid of the nav system.

When I hear more back I'll post up their decision/findings.

Cool, thanks. I've got the Shaker back in, and haven't noticed any power problems since re-installing it. I'll send the nav out this week probably, either to H&H (thanks for that link 302svt) or someone else. Hopefully we'll get it set up right and I'll be able to use it again soon.

Then I can do the LED mod to change all the lighting to blue instead of green.

I talked to Will at H&H. His feedback is good, and he knows what he is talking about, so I am going with him. His number is 1-800-631-0681, and they're located in Texas.

Cheers
