Ford takes airbag recall national
It looks like there are TWO air bag recalls; one for the driver side and one for the front passenger side. Here is the link from DOT:

Looks like NJ will be a long way away until repairs are made in the high humidity states.

you know what bothers me about this, ford must not have done any durability testing on these bags- i mean surely there had to be a spec, and if so, it seems to me ford would verify it was met before approving for production? seems like they just asked harbor freight for a bunch of untested/not followed up on parts to throw down the line

LOL Harbor Freight.
Got my letter from ford stating the parts are available. Called the local dealer where the inflator was was replaced in December 2015. They said they don't have the parts and I am not on their list. Now out of the blue they have a list, I was on their backs over this from day one. Downs Ford in Toms River NJ will never see my car or me again
I received the letter 3 weeks ago. I called my local dealer and they said they were already out of the parts. I asked to be put on their waiting list for the part. That was 3 weeks ago and still no part. I don't really see the point of the letter.
Huh
When I called mine, they said they'd put in the order on the part and it would only take 2 or 3 weeks to come in. I was surprised to hear that because all I had to go through back in December -- including having Deysha escalate it up to the Ford regional level, and it still took over a month. They said, no, its much better this time and they can track where the part is now. At least, that's the word of a service rep at one dealer...

Got my letter too. I'm certainly in no rush. It took them how long??? The letter gives you a sense of urgency too, like call them immediately. Uh huh.
In the meantime, while waiting, I've gone on two Canadian vacations and will get it done at my convenience. They should pay us for our time wasted on the first recall when they replaced the bad one with another bad one. Now we have to go back again. That's about 3 hours for me so far. Imagine us going to them demanding 3 hours of free labor.

I'm in CANADA and I received my letter a few weeks ago. Still haven't done anything about it. Though I wonder what they will change exactly cause I changed my airbag to the 2010 version.
I got letter #1 last year, letter #2 2 weeks ago and made an appointment for today. Just dropped it off now (1pm) and it should be ready by 4.
They say they're getting in only a few at a time. I'm on the west coast of Canada.

Well, Friday (yesterday) I got a letter that parts were available to call dealership .... so I did and they took my VIN and name and number and car color and said they'll order the parts now and call in a couple weeks to schedule me ..... ours just needs the driver side done.
Same here, came yesterday with a nice picture in case I didnt know where the air bag was, lol.
Seems odd, but I got the letter for the drivers side air bag that parts were avail 2 weeks ago, I called my dealer right away to schedule, they said they would call me when parts were in, nothing yet. Kinda getting ticked off at this whole ordeal.
Here in NJ, I received my letter from Ford on 07/11/16 for the driver side airbag stating parts are now available. Made my appointment for 07/25/16 and my dealer had it installed in 30 minutes. Hope this fixes the problem, not like some of you that received a "patch" fix. On July 23, 2016 got my letter from Ford for the PASSENGER side, parts not yet available. This will probably take another year.
Throw me in the Passenger lot. Wonder if this is a defect they found, or if they're just saying "Eh, screw it. Better be safe".
What about everybody with side curtain airbags? Are they going to get a third recall?

havent gotten a letter and people are telling me 3 different things. one says it was fixed in the used car side, the service dept says no, the other dealership says cant be because they dont have parts yet. only for the older models. idk who is lying lol
