Plug your car's VIN into www.safercar.gov and it should tell you. Chances are the service dept and the other dealership are right. The parts have only been making it to the dealers for a month or so now.

yeah that sucks...these companies take these recalls to lightly i feel. they are important and they should be busting their butts to try to get all the parts out there so people dont have these issues.

Well, I just got a letter from Ford telling me for the first time about the passenger side airbag recall 16S26, had a big page picture to show me the difference. About two weeks ago I had called about the driver's side recall 15S21 and they had ordered the part.

Called local Ford dealer just a bit ago today, part is in for my 15S21 so now I have an appointment for Wednesday afternoon .... but he told me the new 16S26 part was not gonna be available until the third quarter 2016 ..... so I'll call him back in September.

First we heard of passenger side recall on our '08 ... ... so now when we drive it, I guess she can wear the full face helmet & visor and I can start wearing just a hat and sunglasses again after Wednesday. I'll show up at the dealership looking like "The Stig" & leave looking like "Joe Schmoe".

(Edited 08-04-16 to say took it in yesterday showing up at 2:10 for a 2:30 appointment .... and at 2:38 pm I was leaving headed home .... 15S21 all done)

So are you still waiting for the driver's side airbag to be replaced?

I got my second letter stating parts were available a couple weeks ago.
My car has a build date of Nov. 2004 which is only 1 year older than yours. I just got mine done out here (Dundee, IL) at Cucci Ford a couple weeks ago. They even had the parts in stock. I called on a Thursday for an appointment and took it in that Saturday. 30 minutes and done.

Just got the driver airbag inflator recall done on the Shelby.
Took less than an hour, including the tech putting the car up in the air for the required multi-point inspection, hoping they'd find stuff to upsell me.
They found nothing.
Recall itself took about 10 minutes once the tech actually started it.

According to her profile, Deysha hasn't been on the site since this past June. Wonder what happened?

Same here. Mine was also replaced in 2015 but they were not the correct 'improved' units at that time. Your local dealer is probably incorrect. I just had mine done again last week with the updated version. They said I will be getting yet another notice for the passenger side when the new units become available. The good news is that I was in and out of there in 30 minutes. Other than them messing up my seat position, it went well.

Darn I was hopping to get ahold of her, She could get my dealer straitened out as she did a lot on here. I will have to try Fords web sight I guess.

Did you get both sides replaced? Some had just 1 side recalled, & others had both recalled

I had a similar recall done right around 2014, prior to the Takata recall letter I got later in March 2015. When I asked my local Ford, which I brought for that 2014 recall, they mentioned it was some kind temporary fix. I brought it back to them once I got the letter that the official Takata replacement was in stock and had it done back in June of last year. Got another letter a month or 2 later saying that the passenger side needs to be replaced. Who knows when that letter will come.

I am still waiting for the letter on my 2010 BMW.
