I brought it back to them once I got the letter that the official Takata replacement was in stock and had it done back in June of last year. Got another letter a month or 2 later saying that the passenger side needs to be replaced. Who knows when that letter will come.

I am still waiting for the letter on my 2010 BMW.
There were another 100,000 Takata airbags recalled...

100,000 more! Ha ha! Great!! Go Takata!

Those who have done it. What is involved with the change? If switched my air bag to a newer one would i still have to go?

For the passenger side, yes if you had the "New" on already installed on the drivers side.

My recall is just for the drivers side and I bought a 2010 center piece for the steering wheel that came with the airbag. Sounds like I still need to go. Alright. Im just curious to what is actually being changed.

So far they only have the parts to fix the driver side, which for anyone who had it done the first time where it was done with more faulty parts had to have it done a second time. I didn't have mine done till last year, so it was only done once. Then in July I got a letter about the passenger side that said it had to be done and they would let me know when the parts were available, which hasn't happened yet.

And here it is. It took longer than I thought, but Takata is filing bankruptcy.

Check out: "Air bag maker Takata reportedly days away from filing bankruptcy"- http://www.autoblog.com/2017/06/15/a...ng-bankruptcy/

I finally had the driver side done this morning. Took about 1 hour 15 minutes, and I was on my way.

Like so many, still waiting for parts for the passenger side.

Now that Takata filed for bankruptcy I wonder if we'll ever see replacements?!

Glad I was able to get my drivers' side done last year.

Takata filed for bankruptcy, but had a lot of their assets bought by Key Safety Systems, a rival.

http://www.autonews.com/article/2017...safety-systems

But in that article, this is the important part, regarding the ongoing inflator problem:

Automakers have already shifted business away from Takata and toward rivals for about 70 percent of the parts to repair defective airbag inflators.
You have to realize that regardless of whether Takata can supply the inflators, the *automobile manufacturers* are still liable for the safety defect, regardless of where and/or from whom they got the part. As such, they're GOING to get that done... even if it takes another 10 years or more.

Worry not. You'll get your inflators. Just a matter of when.

I just got the recall recently in the mailbox but says that they will send another letter when the parts are available, the recall say it was started in 2016, is it ready to take my car yet and will I have to pay for labor or just a fee or anything cause it says I need both but have seen that only the passenger isn’t available? Sorry if it’s been covered, I’ve been trying to ready each post but on my phone it keeps glitching between pages cause it’s just scrolling versus physically hitting the next page

No parts are ready. Wait until next letter comes. And there is no charge when and IF we ever get to take in for recall.
they are working with another company now to make the replacement parts is what I heard last.

Alright thanks, I wanna get a 10’ steering wheel but don’t want that to give them a reason to not do the recall

Correct Stoenr. I got the notice for the passenger side also. Of course if it takes as long for the passenger side as it did for the drivers side I'll have sold the car by then.

Still no notice for the passenger side on my '13. I had the driver's side done. Punching my VIN into several recall sites show nothing outstanding on my car.

I just got my 05’ about a month or two ago so everything done to it is a mystery and I believe the car sat and was perhaps maybe sold at an auction due to no extra keys, no key fobs and 1 janky Chinese key including spider webs inside of the kick panels and in the car and under the car but if I check on fords website, would it tell me if the drivers been done?
