Just read where there are going to be two more recalls coming. It will add another 5 million vehicles to the list that need new airbags. It involves two other airbag designs Takata made.

Those of you that mentioned going in for a temporary repair ... any more info on that?
I stopped by the local dealer and there is No temp repair they'll do.
The only temp repair that would stop the faulty parts from popping would be to remove them, and you're not gonna get a dealer to willingly remove your airbag.

With another person being killed because of the air can, i'm thinking of removing my air bag. I've seen a few youtube videos and its pretty easy to do. I would rather live with the airbag light on than be killed because of it

Statistically speaking chances are low. All that have died have been in Hondas to boot, with exception of this latest guy from GA in the ranger.

However if you do, don't tell anyone. I do believe it is a felony to remove them, even though it is your private property. Stupid big brother, needs to mind its own **** business.

There's other ways to disable them, other than removal.

There wasn't a temporary fix. The early cars like mine they installed an updated part that turned out to have the same problem.

as time goes on, Ive got a feelling maybe the canister design's been bad for a long, long time- wouldnt be completely surprised if they start recalling them back into the 90's eventually... how long can a highly toxic Sodium Azide bomb last? a decade? ten decades? eventually they are all gonna require hazardous disposal or intentional discharge in which the explosion supposedly converts it into non-toxic residue...
Takata will likely no longer exist before they can replace all these bags and the fines/lawsuits...what happens then?
also, arent these bags designed by the auto manufacturer? was corrosion protection called for in the design? any chance the manufacturer will be found partly responsible?

In case anyone wants to know what it will look like when your airbag explodes instead of deploys.

Nope, but I heard they added another 40M airbags to the recall. I don't expect mine to get fixed for years...

If that's the case, I'll be pulling the fuse and de-activate the d*mn thing..
As I'd rather take my chances without the airbag, rather than risk having my throat cut by friggin shrapnel with it

I've already had it for this long. I don't expect 90% of the current owners to still have the car by the time a fix is available.

Got mine in yesterday too. Now the dreaded visit to the dealer to fix it, and hope they don't screw something up.

I just checked on Fordowner.com for my car and it is listed for the recall but status says...
"Status: 12 - RECALL INCOMPLETE. REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE."

I have not gotten a letter yet.
