That's correct, there are 2 for the driver's side.. After the first recall, they came out with an updated revision for the driver's side airbag under the recall..

The first was done last year and the revision was done this year..

You guys should be checking around at various dealers. I was able to get both of mine done last Summer, but had to go to a second dealer that I typically did not use to get the final one done.

Boy am I glad it is done. Do not want to have to worry about taking on the shrapnel in an accident. Could kill both front passengers in a minor accident if they deploy.

You're referring to the airbag recalls for the driver's side.. Ford recently sent out notification letters stating that remedy parts for the passenger side airbags under the recall will not be available until spring/2018..

Therefore until your passenger side airbag is also taken care of.. You still run the risk of taking on shrapnel in the event of an accident if they deploy

You can, just put in your VIN number.

Received my letter from Ford for the passenger side mid January 2018, stating that I must not allow anyone to sit on the passenger side. Funny, Ford never said anything about not sitting on the driver side in July 2015. Wasn't there the same risk to the driver back then?

I never got this letter. And thats basically a class action lawsuit against Ford waiting to happen now if they went a letter out like that.

Yes Ford sent out a letter warning not to allow anyone to sit in the front passenger seat. Got my warning in December 2017. So my Mustang is kind of useless unless I take it by myself on a ride. My wife will never sit in the backseat. Ford will now not be responsible if your passenger is hurt or killed in an accident. Of course I would now never let anyone sit there until it is fixed. Nice having a car that is basically useless for a couple. Isn't it funny that thousands of new Mustangs rolling off the assembly line are getting airbags made for them?

Keep your family safe

However...
This is America
Multiple warnings do not a lawsuit prevent.
It just shows intent on Ford's part to warn of danger.
If somebody is injured or killed, there will still be a lawsuit.
And perhaps a large payout
Little comfort if someone dies.

Got both driver and passenger airbags replaced today. Now I can drive the car again - hadn’t driven it much lately due to the airbag issue.

Yours is the first passenger side replacement I've seen. Did you receive a notification that the parts were available, or did you just call the dealership?

I was at Ford last week for the Explorer exhaust recall and I asked our service adviser when they would be getting the passenger airbag parts because I wasn't bringing my car in two different times to get both airbags replaced. She said they had just gotten 8 passenger airbags in that day and she said I'll put your name on one. Brought the car in the next day to get them both replaced.

05RedGT - Thanks for the heads up. I called my local dealer and they said they had a few replacement passenger-side airbags in. I made an appointment and had it replaced this morning. In and out in about 50 minutes. Now I can feel safe with someone riding in the passenger seat again.

Well - scratch that! The dealer called this morning and said even though it fit, they had installed an inflator with the wrong part number and they needed to re-install my old inflator until the correct new part came in. What a pain.....

To be continued.

That's because the system doesn't have your status updated yet, Gary
