That too (and not just for the Recaros, but for cars on dealer lots). I like black interiors as much as the next guy, but not only does it kind of get old, but some of us live in places where it gets hot during the summer, and getting into a car with a black interior on a hot summer day is NOT fun.

Makes sense. They already have the black pack on the Focus I believe. Great option for the Mustang for sure!

I'd like to see my next GT in the color "Blue Jeans Metallic". I'm tired of purple based blues. I want steel based blues. I would have bought Windveil Blue Metallic years back if it had been a few shades darker.

Black chrome would ROCK.. In fact I think the Black GT/CS hood extractors should be Black Chrome.

I would really like some kind of HUD as an option, maybe in the Electronics package. Had one in my GTP and Dad's Corevettes have them, really a useful option (to me at least).

Heard that the seating on the base models will be 2+3, and the performance models will be true 2+2 with flow through center console. Rear Seat delete a future option.

I heard 1+2 setup a la Mclaren F1 Really doubt we'll see two different seat configurations.

That would be pretty sweet, I read about and installed an app on my phone called Speed HUD, simple but pretty neat, but it only really works at night time due to not having that piece of film for the windshield.

In the meantime you might want to check out Garmin they are introducing a HUD device for their navigation software.

If Ford were to introduce a HUD, being able to customize the information would be cool, the Speed HUD app for example shows compass direction, speed and lateral acceleration as well as setting an over speed warning. The Garmin unit shows speed, distance to turn, when to turn and if you pay for the service; speed limits in the area and speed cameras (and perhaps a few other things).

Navigation aside it would be neat if you could configure the factory HUD as purely a tachometer (for example) with redline obviously and a shift light. As well as any information that appears on the dash such as the DIC info and warning lights (TPMS info comes to mind here).

The biggest thing I'd improve on the Mustang are tighter fit and finish (like panel gaps) and improvements to the seals on the doors and trunk. I noticed on my SHO that they filled in all the gaps between the doors/trunk and frame with a gasket material all the way around, instead of leaving an open gap on my 2006 Mustang GT. This would help with keeping road noise down (pump in the good stuff like engine and exhaust noises via noise tubes or something)

Next Gen Upgrades Needed

Bought a Mustang in 1966 & kept it 10 yrs. Loved that car! I suspect Ford lost a lot of us along the way when the Mustang became just a muscle car.

In the market for a new car & test drove a few of the V6s. I decided to hold off to see what the 2015 brings.

If Ford makes these improvements, I'll buy a 2015:

1. Seat Belts: shoulder belt rides up on neck, a major irritation!
2. Front View: too limited - open by lowering dash & hood 2" (safer)
3. AWD: option would increase sales in snow areas if offered
4. Trunk Opening: too small - make it a hatchback & increase sales
5. Glass Top: make it into a solar panel & embed the antenna
6. Dashboard: keep current simple & elegant dash - don't clutter
7. Interior: refined soft plastic & leather panels for Premium option
8. Interior: too limited to dark colors - offer light tan & silver colors
9. Exterior: reduce drag by a few inches in width & front end
10. Powertrain: latest technology to boost power w/o increased fuel
11. Suspension: independent rear suspension

Hope to see Ford offer 2 types of Mustang (& fix shoulder belt!):
V6 -- smaller exterior, more open view, upscale lighter interior, better mpg - options: solar glass top option, convertible & hatchback (wider appeal)
V8 -- larger 'muscle' exterior, increased power options, hard plastic interior, dark interior colors, racing seats (appeal to racing enthusiasts)

If the shoulder belt had not dug into my neck & had I been able to see out better, I probably would have bought a 2014 on the lot - despite having black interiors, which I hate because black interiors are heat sinks.

A lot of good ideas, my thoughts on them:

1. Seat Belts: shoulder belt rides up on neck, a major irritation!
Easily done, would surprise if a height adjuster wasn't standard.

2. Front View: too limited - open by lowering dash & hood 2" (safer)
Agreed, I really dislike the high belt line, gun-bunker look so popular now. I would include the whole beltline (side windows) in your 2" drop. The Mustang is a performance car meant to communicate with the outside world, not some limo meant to hide from it.

3. AWD: option would increase sales in snow areas if offered.
Might be hard to implement, economically, on a lateral RWD layout like the Stang. While I can see some snowbelt advantages, the cost, weight and economy debits may be a bit too much.

4. Trunk Opening: too small - make it a hatchback & increase sales.
Yes. "Muricans simply need to get off their reflexive and inane hatchback aversion.

5. Glass Top: make it into a solar panel & embed the antenna.
If made into a solar panel, then it wouldn't be transparent, and what would the solar panel be powering that the alternator/battery aren't? Antenna could be embedded in any glass, though pop ups give better reception.

6. Dashboard: keep current simple & elegant dash - don't clutter.
Keep simple and elegant, but do update.

7. Interior: refined soft plastic & leather panels for Premium option
Soft plastic on all trims, leather option for premium trims.

8. Interior: too limited to dark colors - offer light tan & silver colors.
A nice, rich saddle interior (for a Mustang) would be so appropo.

9. Exterior: reduce drag by a few inches in width & front end
I think the '15 is going to be trimmed up a touch in terms of raw dimensions, but the design itself will be much more aerodynamic.

10. Powertrain: latest technology to boost power w/o increased fuel
Look to see this trend on all motors, but especially the Egoboost 2.3. I would expect, now want, the complication, weight and expense of hybrid drivetrains in a Stang.

11. Suspension: independent rear suspension
Done. Live axle afficionados will simply have to get used to both excellent handlin AND ride, at the same time.

Hope to see Ford offer 2 types of Mustang (& fix shoulder belt!):
V6 -- smaller exterior, more open view, upscale lighter interior, better mpg - options: solar glass top option, convertible & hatchback (wider appeal)
V8 -- larger 'muscle' exterior, increased power options, hard plastic interior, dark interior colors, racing seats (appeal to racing enthusiasts)

While all Mustangs will ride on the same essential platform and thus, be essentially the same size regarding exterior and interior dimensions and exterior view, there will be at least three trim levels initially as I understand it -- base V6, mid-range Egoboost 2.3, upper end V8 GT -- and then probably a new GT350 Shelby to top the range. There will also be a range of trim levels that would traverse the basic models above so that you can mix and match a bit, i.e., a fairly basic GT, or sporty GT, or a pretty plushed out GT.

I Agree - I'm surprised '05-now hasn't had adjustable seatbelts. I got seatbelt extenders (for free) from the dealer and that did the trick

Isn't the height of the front/belt line a contributor to crash safety? Wouldn't lowering it make the car less safe?

I loaded a ton of flooring in the back of my '06. If you need more space you don't need a Mustang

Already happening 400+hp v8same mpg as 300hp V8 and EcoBoost 4 coming

Agreed - finally coming in '15

For me it 100% come down to :

1) interior improvements - this really is the only thing wrong with the car. a 30k honda accord coupe has a BEAUTIFUL interior. No reason ford cant. If it means raising the price an extra 2k, ill pony up. (no pun intended)
