I would like to see some gauges placed above the glove box . If Chevy can put gauges on the console and out of site, Ford could put a boost gauge and some other gauges in the barren area above the glove box. The interior would just look more functional and performance like.

The gauges could be angled so the driver could see them. That would still be better than the console gauges on the Camaro. Just think how nice gauges could look above the glove box.

Someone who needs to monitor a gauge probably can't afford to lose focus to look across the cabin. Not to mention the font being too small to read.

I think the blank space above the glove box should be utilized. Additional gauges could be placed just to the right of center of the dash. I am not talking about replacing the current gauges in front of the driver. Gauges such as boost gauges, ammeter, and trans temp gauge could be placed in the blank space in the dash where there is just plain plastic. The gauges placed above the glove compartment would be for a quick glance and would just make the right half of the dash just look more functional.
What would you all want to utilize that blank space for ? Information center for the passenger ?

It's already utilized for that wonderful thing called an airbag. Unless you want to pick gauges out of your skull following a crash, this is one of the stupidest suggestions ever.

The idea of having additional gauges on the passenger side dash is nothing new. The Mercury Cyclone in 1969 or 1971 had additional gauges on the passenger side of the dash. Remember how good of a job Ford did to make the dash really special with those gauges built into the passenger dash. I am sure Ford could design an airbag system to function without causing harm to a passenger. The gauge panel could be designed to move up and out of the way as the airbag enlarges.

It may have been used over 40 years ago, but there is probably a good reason we don't see it now. I don't think that it is a very bright idea. Too distracting to look over there. Might as well send a text while driving.

How about a CB radio, those were also popular in the 1970's. Just kidding. This question goes against the goal of losing weight and it certainly works against affordability. I don't want Ford to say "Hey, there's some blank space someplace in the cabin, we've got to put something there."

If we're very lucky, the next-gen Mustang will have a large part of it's instrument panel a customizable LCD screen, kind of like the 2014 Corvette. Then a person could customize it to show the gauges they want and skip the ones they don't care about.
