MGW Shifter Feedback Thread!
Any good hardware store or auto parts house should carry nut splitters in various sizes. I got some at Sears that had shorter shanks than those posted. Let us know which stripped, the nut or the stud.

Old thread alert!
Ordered my MGW Shifter last Sunday. Got the confirmation e-mail on Monday. Does MGW e-mail tracking info when they ship it or do I need to call and ask for it? Looking forward to getting it in the car.

I don't think I've seen this thread before. Anyway I was completely blown away with the product. Just looking at it you can SEE the vast improvement in engineering and r&d that went into it. Then when you get it in and feel all that sexayness. Well it's definently a product that sells itself.
I recently received my MGW shifter (2 weeks agoish) and the bracket that connects the shift handle to the shifter base shaft is different than shown in TacoBill's writeup and on MGWs video. Also the printed text on the bracket had to be on the passenger side instead of the driver side as shown again in the MGW instructions and the TacoBill writeup. Beyond that, I didn't notice any variations.

Never seen this thread. My feedback:
Shifter is great. Real high quality product. Have been using it for a week or two now and it's wonderful shifting from 2nd to 3rd. Highly recommend it. Have punched it a few times and it bring a grin to my face. With the stock shifter I missed third at the track
That's not going to ever happen again
Packaging was proffesional. Everything was labeled and neatly organized.

Installed the shifter today...I will say, this is a VERY robust upgrade. I love the springs, the feel is great, except I have mine set to 8 turns, and it feels pretty notchy. I noticed the "notchyness" is greatly reduced when the car is standing still, but when it's moving and I'm shifting it's pretty notchy.
After reading some posts, it sounds like going to 6 turns would probably solve the problem...but I want to make sure this is a normal thing for this shifter.
Please advise, thanks
Erik

I got my transmission from a friend, and it had an MGW shifter on it. I got a new shifter ****/stick for it, but it didn't fit, because one of the parts was an older version. MGW sent me the new/updated part for free, that was very nice of them! MGW get's two thumbs up from me!
Erik , yes that is normal for the shifter. I was on the pre-order list and have had mine in since they were first released , so it's been a while but I believe I set mine at about 6 turns and I used the softer set of springs. Both sets of springs will soften up a little with time ...
Thanks Steve.. I like that "robust" feeling when I'm going through the gears, but the problem is when I'm trying to slam it 1-2-3, there is a slight hesitation to get into gear..I need to muscle it in there. It may be that I'm not used to it yet, or that it's not broken in (or a combo of the two), but I may try to change it to 6 turns and see if that solves the problem.

Mine felt really stiff in the beginning to the point where my arm was sore after battling Chicago rush hour traffic. But I'm not sure if the springs got broken in or I just got used to it but it's all good now. I even have it set up so the **** is as low as possible which gives you less leverage requiring more effort to shift and I have no problems with it. Very easy, I could be in traffic all day. By the way, I'm at 8 turns I think. I also have the original promo shifter (and the holes in my shift boot from it!).

Just installed mine and its "tight" when going to first and second. Sort of muscle like you said.
However, third gear is never, never, never, a problem. I'm at 7 turns out and thinking of going to 5.
After a week or so of every day Long Island traffic will be the real test. Great upgrade from the old stock stick.
I just installed mine, tried setting it at ten turns until I tried powershifting into second. I tried it at eight but think I am going six turns and see how I like that. I know that short of a throw it will take alot more effort but it's very notchy. I love the second to third shift, it just slides into place. I think with a little more adjustment I will really like this shifter. It is a very well made shifter and worth the money.
