No I understand, I wasn't getting smart with you. It should have only taken a few weeks, but with having to tweak the original prototypes, wait on a guy to test fit, wait even longer when one of our guys was out a week, this really didn't take all that long.

It's going to be a quality product. I mean, we're within days of being able to ship. Sorry to mislead anyone who was counting on these, but they're available within a few business days.

Furthermore, I just did this because people were asking for a nicer quality shield. I'm not making a killing on the stuff, just trying to help people out.

were now at almost a month and a half, so just wishing people wouldnt say something they dont mean, about a product people want, and then just delay, delay, delay, but hey thats up too you, have a good one.
And that's exactly why I don't bother with threads like these. It's always the same BS. Vendors should just not say anything until they are ready to show what they have and have a fairly good timeline. Delays happen and that's understandable, but to get people hyped about a product without knowing a timeline is not good business...IMHO.

If you've noticed, this isn't a thread that ends up in a no-show product. We've posted pictures of the installed prototypes, and already have the final productions coming back powdercoated and finished this week. I don't see how that's bad business?

So MGW is bad business? Or B&M Auto Shifter?

The same thing is with them. B&M has a great quality product, engineered by a guy who knows what he's talking about. Unforseen circumstances got in it's way, so it's delayed a little bit. MGW, great quality shifter.. just a little bit backed from his original date. Bad business?

I can understand if we weren't making anything. In the industry, developing, prototyping, testing, producing, and boxing an item within 6 weeks is pretty **** good!

Don't get your panties in a wad. LOL MGW told us it'd be a while with the shifter. Doesn't mean I don't do business with them or maybe with you in the future. But it still doesn't make it good business from a consumer stand-point. Come online and state it's 4-6 weeks out at least folks know the timeline. State a couple of weeks and then goes to four, people get frustrated. That's only my opinion.

yah but most of those reputable companies you speak of didnt say a couple of weeks. We understood with those products and companies told us up front. I am not mad at you tillman, just wish you would havent even said anything, i keep looking and I keep seeing this thing get longer and longer and longer.

You know what 6 weeks if that were the case and was told up front it would be a while that would be fine. But were at six weeks now almost I believe and there not in a box on the way here, LOL. Nor are there any pictures of this c type you speak of!! So were still waiting to even see a prototype of this kind after 6 weeks thanks.

Are we all so straved for items to buy for our cars that we can't give a guy with a good idea a break? He originally came here asking if there was interest in this product and everyone said yes. Then he went to the trouble to develop and R&D the product. I would say the only thing that he has done wrong was putting a time table out there that hasn't been met.

Next time a vendor comes with a good idea and wants to develop it make sure that they say it will be available approximately 3 months longer than it is actually going to take.

I got frustrated too on how long it was taking and called on the project and not posting any pictures. I think Tillman is doing everything "he" can to bring this product to the table. At the end of the day it's not going to make your car any faster and nobody will even know you have this unless you open your hood and tell them about it.

Everyone knows these things take time (somtimes more then the vendor thinks it will), yet they still get all impatient and bent out of shape (not pointing any fingers just saying in general). I'm still waiting.. I see no reason to rush a project along I would rather have it just right the first time.

Tillman did say they were a few weeks out and ran into a few snags like him being sick and needing to retool the first sample. Not to mention everyone trying to add differnt options to the original idea every few posts. I say thanks for the work so far Tillman and will await the finished project

Now Alex, do you really have such limited experience with business marketing?

Did Ford wait until they had a lot full of Mustangs before they announced that they were coming? Does Sony wait until they have a warehouse full of PlayStations before they announce it? Of course not!

Building anticipation is a well proven and sucessful means of generating interest and demand for a new product. Ask anyone who spends the night in front of a department store for a toy, or movie theater for the latest Star Wars, or book store for Harry Potter how long they have been waiting to consume the product that is about to be released. Do you really expect a manufacturer to stock the shelves at your local mega-mart before they tell you that the product exist? No way! Announcing a product that late in the game is BAD business. Having product sit on the shelves or on a warehouse waiting for consumer demand to arrive is BAD business.

That being said, this does not apply to Tillman. As CR stated, he did not come to this forum to offer a product he did not have. He mearly responded to to the input he was given from fellow forum readers. They asked for an improved Heat Shield and CR took the inititive to make it happen.

I am a General Manager and Engineer in an R&D facility. I know the amount of time and effort that is required to bring a quality product to market.

Tillman is to be congratulated for thier customer service because they are rapidly responding the the customers desires and they have kept the customer informed during the process.

Go ask Ford to give you a weekly update on the new Bullit or Cobra or Boss. Maybe then you will appreciate what CR has given us.

Mark

Thanks fellas. I should have (as mentioned above) just said something like "yea, I'll have it in Apri!". The only problem with that is, by the time April came nobody would want to take a look at it, and nobody would understand what went into it.

Sorry for anyone who had their hopes up, but it's only a few days away as stated before.

I've posted prototype pictures, installed prototype pictures. The J series is available to ship this upcoming week.

As I said before about the C series, it will be another week or so depending on manufacturing before you see a prototype and test fit install. If you don't want to wait, no biggie I understand.

I'm just trying to help the few people out that said "yea, I'd like a nice replacement heat shield".

Thanks for everyone who understands that there are certain things out of my hands. If it was me making these, and I had the proper tools and punch breaks here, I'd be up until 4AM making them, test fitting, and had them to the powdercoater in days.

Anyway, we'll see how the consensus feels this week when they're available for order!

Thanks,

CR

It's cool. I'll try and get the C Series knocked out as soon as possible since everyone has been real patient. Next project I'm going to overshoot the ETA a little bit to ensure no mixups. THANKS

all i can say is, guys be thankful, this product is looking to be a good buy, look how long it took SHR to come out with their louvers, took months and marcello kept pushing back the date, but you know what, they are out now and everyone loves them. you can not dis the man for making an awesome product for us, no one really pushed him to do it, he just did it to help us out. i know i am greatful and hopeing this think will kill the rattle i have because of my plastic sheild, if we are patient this product will end up like the SHR louvers and other products (not saying anything about B&M because it looks like their shifter needs a bit more work but a good idea non-the-less)

Powdercoating told me to pick them up Wednesday / Thursday latest. I'm excited. On a side note, C Series test fit prototype is coming back Friday.
