I have talked about this in another thread. I want to get a count of how many would be interested in purchasing a high quality polished aluminum or black powdercoated aluminum heat shield with grommets for maximum radiant heat protection.

They would do away with the flimsy heatshields from the manufacturer, and offer much cooler air temps to the filter. I would start by offering a unit very similar to the ones now, only in sturdy aluminum with a rubber seal for the hood, and where the heat shield sits to eliminate rattle.

If they were good quality, fit, and finish I want to get an idea of how many would be interested in buying them if the price was right.

Let me know, and I can get a prototype done up, with detailed pictures to post. From there I could get an exact price per unit. Should only take a few weeks.

Let me know! Thanks

Just to clear things up, I am not trying to steer business away from any of the air intakes listed above. Those companies make AWESOME kits, and you still need to buy the air intake kit from the manufacturer. I am just going to make an improvement heat shield that looks nicer, and eliminates radiant heat and rattles. I do not want to start any troubles with JLT, C&L, or Steeda because they are
Hey C.R.

For reasons you have mentioned above is exactly why myself and others dont use them.

We use the WMS HV Intake System. My installation has a heat sheld on the bottom and also has a rubber gasket that seals the top of the intake to the under side of the hood.

On the units you mention if someone could come up with a way to get the intake out from under the hood all together that would be a great idea.

well there is a company making a headlight delete kit that allows air to come in through the headlight area straight to the cai, but then your stuck using center lights and sort of ugly to me, but for a true racer I guess it would be better, but for looks, not for me.

Hey Sodaman how ya doin.

Another way to do it would be to delete the fog lamps and install them down in the lower grille (where they would actually function as fog lamps).

Then reuse the drivers side upper grille fog lamp opening through ducting to the CAI.

Problem solved.

Now all we need is for someone to make a kit.

My guy is at a jobsite, I left him a message to update me when we'll have that prototype. Should be tonight/tomorrow. Pictures will be available right away once it's recieved. Thanks for the patience.

Just got word should be dropping off something today/tomorrow.

The pictures will NOT be shown with the brite finish, they will be a regular 6061 aluminum. However, the ones you will recieve will be polished, unless you select black powdercoat. I am sending them to get powdercoated, that will only take 2-3 days, and they'll be available for shipping from thereafter.

I will post pictures and start taking preorders this week. I'll keep everyone updated.

Thanks for the update, waiting for pics.

C.R.: What are you thinking for pricing? Blank vs. Powdercoat?

Can't wait to see what these will look like. If they look good, I'm down for a black one.

Pricing on black and mirror finish will be the same. I should have pricing with the prototypes tomorrow. My guy in manufacturing is being a little slow on this for whatever reason. I'm worried that we're going to get thrown off until early next week until they're ready to ship.

When the C&L prototype is done, I will test fit the GMS intake with it. I think it should work. THANKS

I think when a person comes to this forum and offers something it should be ready to go! I have seen several threads over the years where the product wasn't even made. I'm not saying that the sheild isn't going to be made but delays when there is a feeding frenzy over this heat sheild seems to be a shame.

Anyone remember the famous KRS center fog grille? That was a real joke~

CR didn't come here to try and sell a pipe dream. This was a topic that was brought up in another thread and he was nice enough to try and make a product materialize. He's just a car guy trying to help us out. I was at Tillman Speed last week and was thoroughly impressed with the service I received. It's a small town old skool speed shop with very competitive prices. Give the guy a chance.

And that's why you get this discounts!

Haha! But really this isn't something that will not be produced. I got it in the works right now, and we're within days of a prototype, and a week of a finished product.

This was something that came about last week in another thread, and seems to be a pretty high demand item. I'm not trying to make a killing either. That's not what Tillman Speed is about. We've been getting into manufacturing for the last 5-6 months, and this is a perfect item to add to help build our small, yet growing, catalog.

Pretty soon you'll see all sorts of neat stuff that we're thinking about. I appreciate everyone's patience in this. I wish it was just as easy as hitting a button, and having a sample. There's tooling, materials, prototyping, retooling if necessary, and production. Then there's powdercoating, packaging, and finally... SHIPPING!

We're done tooling, materials, and as of tomorrow prototyping. As long as there is no retooling (shouldn't be), than we can finalize production, and powdercoat. That's about a week process. You'll be happy to know this powdercoat is sickening! I might even add a custom color option down the road. Maybe we can paint-match, etc.

Thanks for your patience. I will post prototypes in here, and start a preorder thread with all of the neccesary information.

Thanks again!
