wow 6 pages of tease. I am dying to see it. I am interisted in getting rid of my crappy, half fitting gms shield. How long do you see production taking once the prototype is finished and you give it a go?

Understandable. There's not much I can do until late next week, though. I'm going to do this the right way. I'm not going to post a "half way done" project.

The proper route would have been for me to just over-shoot and say "it's going to take me 4 weeks" from the start. There is MINOR modifications that need to be fixed in the drawing file for the machine. My guy is at a jobsite until Monday afternoon, and can't get to the drawing until Tuesday. From there, we can pop one out hopefully Wednesday.

I'm just trying to help out here, and make a product I know some people would like to see made. Why would I have a 6 page thread on something not in production? That would be a great way to give a bad name to our shop! Not happening... these heat shiels ARE being produced and WILL be shipping before Feb14th. That's only 2 - 2 1/2 weeks.

After I get the final quote from powdercoating, I will have an EXACT price. That price should be available with the pictures of the prototype so everyone gets a feel for what they're going to cost. It's not going to be a $25 hunk of crap, and it's not going to be a $100 gold plated over-glorified heatshield. There is a happy median somewhere.

Thanks for all of your patience. These heatshields will be garunteed not to rattle or chip your engine bay paint. Those who can hang in with me for a few more weeks will be pleasantly suprised in the quality and workmanship that went into this.

Thanks for the understanding. I could have sold it the way it was, but I'd rather choose to retool and make it EXACTLY RIGHT. Of course that's when the guy I'm having do the drawing file is out for a few days.

Yeah, I don't wanna rush on this. It's the first part we're pushing to the public. A good way to make or break us (manufacturing-wise).

I will be sending the C Series rough prototype out for tooling, so when he gets back he can draw the file for that one. Then he will have the final C Series prototype about 3 days later. So C Series is going to be a week later than the J Series.

I am going to confirm fitment with a GMS intake when that final prototype gets back to me.

well tillman I realize you meant february 14th, but in your post you say january, just thought you might want to change that so people arent getting the wrong idea,LOL. anyway looking forward to it. I hope there will be options, as not everyone wants it one way, I noticed you added a pole to the thread. I am in for polished or painted to match possibly, but I will not spend more money on a black heat shield, I already have one. The newer gms heat shield is metal and black, looks powdercoated. But I am not that impressed with it and it only uses one of the factory holes, so the other hole is open and looks stupid, plus vibration, scratch etc. Looking forward to something shiny and possibly a better mount all together. Thanks for working on this.

Good looking out on the date! I can understand since you already have a black metal heatshield, that you'd only want to upgrade to the polished. Makes sense to me! I will see what I can do about that second mount before this C series prototype is finished. Thanks!

Even though we all b!tch about no pics, it is just because we are so excited. I think it is great thay you are taking the initiative to provide a part that is in high demand and are taking the time to do it right and not just to make a quick buck.

I'm just as excited! I'm going to have to go buy a car for the heatshield to fit on! I guess the fox has to go, maybe for a Shelby GT? We'll see what happens...

Anyway, we'll resurrect this thread end of next week.

J Series Universal happens to fit with the JLT Intake setup.

I had my powdercoater bring me a sample... the black gloss powdercoat looks amazing!!! The polished aluminum with clearcoat is going to lose alot of lustre, so I'm having him do up the most reflective silver powdercoat with clear he has. I want to see how it turns out. There might be no way to make this thing "polished". We can cadium plate them, but the finger prints/quality looks like crap... ask MAC Performance users. I could do a polished stainless steel, but the heat, and they turn blue if you breathe on them the wrong way. We may only be able to produce a reflective silver clearcoated version.

The powdercoat is nice because it's very hard to scratch, it's maintnence free, and it's washable/waxable even. If something spills on it, it will not stain as long as it's cleaned within reasonable time. Those who really want to go crazy with it could buff it out if they really wanted to.

Let me know what everyone thinks. I'm going to post a sample of the "reflective silver" Mon/Tues.

Busy as hell this last week, I'm going to try to get RubberEater in the shop sometime this week to install the prototype and take pictures. We should be ready for preorders next week (Feb. 5-9), and shipping out early-mid following week (Feb. 12-16). My estimate was by the 14th, working out nicely so far.

So pictures are only a few days away, fellas.

Patiently awaiting pictures. Painted to Match is a great choice if available.
