I'll take a look tomorrow (luckily I get off early).

There would be 2? Even on the dump connection where there is not a valve?

but that would make sense right why you were seeing vacuum in the dump tube right?

So if say he did not receive the Valve seats in his kit, could that be whats causing his problem? A little thing like that? Man if that is the only thing thats causing the problem I would be terrified to install a turbo on my car. I dont have near the mechanical ability to install one with so many little pieces! I would never be able to begin to trouble shoot it if it had a problem after it is installed! I hope this may be the source of your problem Tom!

I honestly do not recall that. For as much as we (all of us) have talked about BOVs and WGs and BCs, we must have merely touched on that ring in passing. At any rate, I will check it out ASAP!

But, help me out here as to what I'm looking for:

Was that ring already in the WG?

Or was it something I had to install into the WG? or between the flanges?

(There was not a ring like that in the box)

So do I!

It'll be a really simple fix once someone (hint, hint) sends me a valve seat ring!

Just kidding... let me first determine if it is installed or not. But I can say for a fact that the only way it is there is if the ring was preinstalled on the WG somehow.

Judging from the picture of his WG, Tom's is a different design. Yours has a flat two-bolt flange with a metal sealing ring, essentially a gasket, whereas Tom's is attached with a clamp that would not require any sort of ring/gasket.

I thought the same thing at first, but look at this:

http://www.tialsport.com/prod_wg_44.htm

That is my WG design, and it lists a Valve Seat.

So, is there a steel ring, or Valve Seat, that I needed to install in the V44 Waste Gate, JR?

I'll remove the WG when I get home and take pictures of everything I have.

If there is a leak at the flange you should be able to hear it, feel the exhaust blowing out, and see some black discoloration.

How loud do you think it would be? everything around it is black so that would be hard to see, and im not sure how easy to "feel" it would be.

It isn't particularly loud. It would sound like a typical exhaust leak like from a loose header. It is almost like a tick. If you stick a rubber tube in your ear and put the other end at the flange like a stethoscope you would hear it. If you clean the area well and then drive it if there is a significant leak there would probably be exhaust soot buildup although that might take some time.

OK, here is the shot of the flange on the exhaust pipe (I can't get attachments to work):

Here are two angles of the flange on the wastegate:

And that's it... they butt up against one another (the WG flange's lip goes inside the exhaust flange) and the V-Band clamp goes around both flanges.

To see the strength of the valve, here's a video of it working (I can't push it in with one thumb, but I can with two):

It looks fine to me. You must have a leak somewhere on the pressure side. I think I already described how I troubleshot the situation on my Supra, but this thread is so long I will repeat it. I found an empty soup can the same size as the air inlet hose. I drilled a hole in the bottom of the can and inserted a tire valve so that it would hold pressure. If you have someone helping you the valve is not necessary. I then inserted the open end of the can into the inlet hose and clamped it tightly. I then blew compressed air into the tire valve. At first I thought the air might leak out the exhaust but it didn't. Then i just listened/felt for leaks. Someone with more experience may have a better way but this worked perfectly, at least on a Supra.
