Emilee, sorry to hear about the car but glad you're still alive. I heard about the wreck from a friend as we were driving past that exit...friend said it looked pretty bad. I can recommend a good chiropractor here in Boise, I used him after my wreck a couple years ago.

Wow, after seeing those pics I was amazed you were able to walk away. On one of the side interior pics it looks like something is piercing thru the passenger seat and I almost choked looking at that.
Glad you are alive and in one piece!!!

Have you gotten a lawyer yet? I used whoever had the biggest ad in the yellow pages and got a decent deal, but probably could have done better if I wasn't so desparate for the money/car replacement.

First of all thank goodness you are still around. I almost lost my supper after seeing those pictures.

Again as everone else has said the car can be replaced, there is only one Emilee who is not replacable.

I would take those pictures to your state councel and ask them if this is not enough of a reason to set a law for bumper height.

This also goes for anyone else who lives in a state that does not have bumper height laws. We do here in Ohio, though sometimes I think it is ignored with all the modded trucks I see.

What should also happen is to print off a mess of pictures and stick them on every truck that has been lifted and put a note on it saying What if your loved one was in the backseat of this car and you hit it with this truck.

Best of wishing for your recovery.

Better yet if one of your local news channels does things like getting involved with the community to help causes. Contact them for some help in getting your local or state government into some kind of action on setting some laws for this.

You are one very fortunate person to be alive!!!
As for the car, the good news is that Ford will build 192000 just like it this year, so you'll be able to find another.

Wow, thank God that you're ok. Anyone in that back seat would have been dead for sure, unfortunately.

Did you get the keys out of the car? One of those pics shows them in it.

OMG Emilee!!! I hope you'll be ok. Looking at those pictures scares me to death. I too was sitting at a stop sign (instead of a stop light), in November, 2004 in my '05 GT and was rear-ended by a GMC Sierra pickup who was going 30-35 mph. It only put a couple of dents and tears in the rear bumper (although I think the air sound I'm hearing coming from the trunk floorboard is something that the body ship missed and is also from the accident). I ended up with 2 herniated discs. I am currently recovering from back surgery I had 1 month ago today. If you are having back pain, I strongly urge you to ask the doctor to get an MRI and an EMG. My x-rays didn't show the herniated discs.

Thank God you are alive and noone else was with you in the car. I'm really sorry about your car and hope you can find another one soon. If there is anything I can do, or if you just need someone to talk to who has has a recent similiar experience email me and let me know.

Elizabeth

Emilee,

Thank goodness you are okay and escaped major injury.

I read the speculation that it was better for the truck to be at a higher ride height. Being in the automotive industry, I can tell you that the rear rails are designed to be the main load path for rear impacts. There is a government test for rear impacts and we typically design the rails to absorb all of the energy.

He missed your rails completely and the rear decklid (trunk) and rear quarter panels absorbed all of the energy. I know that you are bummed about your car being totaled but the design of the new Mustang saved your life. You can see that the front passenger compartment was totally intacted and the rear crumpled and absorbed all of the energy from that truck. You experienced just about the worst case scenario... you were stopped and he was going at a high rate of speed and he is much heavier.

We should also consider that the new Mustang has the gas tank ahead of the rear axle. I would hate to think what would have happened in the prior car...
