i was rear ended, by someone going 50 mph
Airbags deploy after an ignition of Nitrogen or Argon. The powder is usually cornstarch or talcum powder. They're all harmless, but I guess it could maybe be an allergic reaction?
It's not your time - Thank God!
John is right, the powder is relatively harmless talc. The airbag minimized your injuries, even though it didn't exactly feel like a pillow.
And this cars sheet metal did exactly what it was designed to do.
I hope you start feeling better soon!

If that truck had bigger tires I'm betting you would have been under axles and pipes! Glad you're ok. Seems you can sue Ford for your's being so low or his being so high! Just kidding!
I can't believe so many of us have waited longer to get our stangs then some exist, but maybe everyone is distracted by the design, or memories of the old design. Seems that everyone driving a new one might want to look in the rearview as much as the front... I get the impression some of these folks are right behind Stangs and then right in the middle of a sentence... "oh look, one of those new stangs!" when they realize "oh crap, that car has cool tail lights but just came to a complete stop (about 5 seconds ago)!!"
- Or -
"that reminds me of the first time I rode in my uncle's.... back in 65" the rest of the wreck is just pre-determined "fate" I guess.
Oh well, glad your ok and hope you get everything you deserve!!

He was probably on drugs or something, or just not paying attention AT all

From Howstuffworks.com -
Air bags have saved thousands of lives since their introduction in the early 1980s. If you run into something, your air bag can inflate in less than a tenth of a second to protect you from the forces of a head-on collision.
There are three parts to an air bag. First, there is the bag itself, which is made of thin, nylon fabric and folded into the steering wheel or the dash board. Then there is the sensor that tells the bag to inflate. It detects a collision force equal to running into a brick wall at 10 to 15 miles per hour (16 to 24 kph).
Finally, there is the inflation system. Air bags are actually inflated by the equivalent of a solid rocket booster. Sodium azide (NaN3) and potassium nitrate (KNO3) react very quickly to produce a large pulse of hot nitrogen gas. This gas inflates the bag, which literally bursts out of the steering wheel or dashboard as it expands. About a second later, the bag is already deflating (it has holes in it) in order to get out of your way.
Emilee,
So glad you weren't in the pony you sold to me, you prolly wouldnt be telling your story to us all. I truly was sick (and I still am) to hear about that, and the pictures are just grotesque. I just want you to know that if you need anything at all, you can still call me and I will be there as soon as I can. I have said my prayers for you and i still am going to, because someone is truly looking out for you. I just had to add my two cents, I just hate seeing close friends involved in things like this. I hope you have a very speedy recovery, and no repercussions. Good luck Emilee, we miss you at work, we need our secratary back! I'm pullin for ya!

Wassup Emilee,
I'm new on here and wanted show some support as well. I can't believe this guy killed your pony, after you only had it such a short time too. Dang! I woulda been laid out on the road crying if someone had done that to my car! The photos make me sick, I can't look at them.
I hope this guy pays you every penny in compensation. (How could he not see a BRIGHT YELLOW 2005 Mustang right in front of his face??)
Anyways--best of luck and health to you, and stay strong.

Emilee,
So happy you are alive with no broken bones. I'm lost for words. What a nightmare. I know that they can't bring her back. If they rebuild her she will have to be the billion dollar mustang, Better, Faster, Stronger. I would be sure that they do that. Maybe they will give you a new one, with out a long wait. You make sure that they give you lots of money for pain and mental suffering. Take care and rest. We are all here for you.

I just looked at all the pictures (Before your wreck), very cool, the black out on the back actually looks cool! Gotta like the burnout action. I'm not sure if I could bring myself to do that though (maybe a few times... tires aren't cheap.. heheeh) Not sure about that neon though

Looking at the pictures of your car in the sun and having seen yellow myself. I can't imagine how someone could miss it!
I am So glad that you are better If people can drive like say the Limo drivers in LA ,they were keeping a safe distace for any occasion and most of the rest I saw were eithr shaving or ready a Fricken paper. It's been my expienience that when something bad happens to one then something good will soon happen. I am also glad for the many Heart Felt thought that are out here now can the rest of the world be on the same page. All The Best Be Well.

Note to self, noone rides in the back seat.

Also, again, glad to hear you are ok, and I am glad to see how intact the [front] passenger compartment is even in such a bad wreck.

The other thing that caught my eye was the height of the pick-up. With it being raised up like that it becomes a real weapon from behind. If it were normal height it would not have gone anywhere near as deep into Emilee. Maybe they should not be allowed to go over a certain height to protect rear seat occupants in any car. That truck would have killed anyone in a back seat of any car I can think of. Food for thought I guess. Hope you recover quickly and get what you deserve from the jerk who hit you.
[attachmentid=18515]Ask your insurance co how much they want for the car?
I would be interested in buying it. I have a 1965 Ranchero that needs complete updating to late model everything but I like the style of the 65. :bang:
But I am sorry this happened. Was the guy on his cell phone at the time?
Have the cops find out. He may have more charges to answer to then.
Distracted driving.....

i was pretty shocked to see those pictures... you must have really bad whiplash from that.. atleast u were wearing a seatbelt. good to see u are well. i think you were right to get out of the car... just look how bad it smashed up the rear end, the gas tank could have been punctured or something.
Just wanted to let you know, I'm from granturismox.net, just wanted to wish you well over the whole thing. Hope there aren't any long-lasting health problems, and I'm glad to see you're still alive. When something like that happens to an auto enthusiast, all of us take notice!
Hope you get everything you're entitled to in the accident, and hopefully you'll be in a nice new 'Stang in short order.
Best wishes!
