Emilee,
Just looking at the car in the pictures all I can say is you definatly have a special purpose here! That is one bad accident! I hope your recovery is quick and as painless as possible. Your car WILL be new again and I hope the same for you.

Emilee hope your feeling ok - I am still in shock over those pics.
IF your trying to scrape up money off the wreck. I Know a guy at my work who is interested in the engine and tranny.. do you still have ownership? He told me to ask you if your willing to part with it...
send me a PM if so..

Emilee, you are so fortunate to have gotten out of that car. Thank God. I hope and pray that you have a full recovery. I am encouraged by your ability to share your experience with all of us. You have tons of people pulling for you.

Ok - yeah let me know - PM is fine.. Man I hope your feeling ok. I know about bad wrecks. My wife and I were hit by a drunk 10 yrs ago. shattered her feet - 7 reconstructive surgeries to fix them - she still suffers today no nerves left in her right foot.
When I was 18 I went head on with a bigger car.. bad wreck - Speaking from experience - make sure you get several medical check ups and an MRI .
Take care.
Emilee, I hope your doing well. I have an X-Plan you can have if you need it. Just PM me. I know it will never make up for what you are going through but I want to do something to try and help you feel a little better.
That is one bad AX. Been said before, but you are darn lucky to be alive.
That said, a couple of tips.
First, DO NOT go to a chiro. Most chiro's are hacks. I am sure there are a number of exceptins, but I have seen enough people treated by chiros to see that more people get no meaningful results than do get results. Instead, I imagine that following a rear-end collision of that magnitude, you need to start with a neurologist (they deal with spinal injuries, which you may or may not have). You may eventually get sent to physical therapy, but do not start with PT on your, own, let a well trained MD make the decision.
Second, get a lawyer. BUT, DO NOT go to one of the TV, "ambulance chasers" as so eloquently stated in a previous post. Most of these TV lawyers are low quality. Additionally, most of these TV lawyers make their money on volume, not value. Instead of getting you the most you are entitled to, they just want to settle as many cases as possible and collect their 30%-40% right off the top. Instead, you need to go to a reputable and high quality lawyer or firm. such a reputable and high quality firm may be hard to find because they are usually selective and don't accept every case. Instead, they only accept the serious cases, i.e., most valuable. This means that most of the time they are not involved in the typical low impact soft tissue rear-end case. However, I would say you're AX was not typical rear-end low impact soft tissue case. This means that many people may have never heard of such firms.
Instead, take your time and find one. you are in no hurry. If you rush things you will only hurt your case. If you know any lawyers in the area, ask them who is the best personal injury firm in your area, even if the firm is 50 miles away, it may be worth it. Most cities, counties etc., have a local bar association of lawyers. Look it up in the phonebook and call it. Most of these bar associations have a referral service. Call it, it may be worth it. Also, within the few days after your accident, you will likely begin receiving letters from lawyers in the mail offering to help you get what you deserve. Some of these may be from good lawyers, some may be from "ambulance chasers." Again, don't rush in and dont go to the first lawyer who send you a letter. Take your time and ask questions. FIND THE BEST LAWYER IN YOUR AREA. It won't cost you a dime. Your efforts in looking for a good lawyer will only increase your recovery in the end.
Third, get a copy of any photos of the accident scene, especially of the truck and your car still intertwined. If you are able, get them in digital format and get color 8 X 10s. Spending $20 now may make you thousands later.
Fourth, I recall reading about mods, paint, springs, and other things you have done to your car. FIND THE RECEIPTS! Put them all together and make several copies of them.
Also, find the invoice and purchase info from when you bought your car. I assume that you ordered your car. If so, you may be in a position to benefit from the wait you endured between when you got your car and when you ordered it, and also for the almost certain wait to replace it. But DONT rush out and buy another one. Wait. buy a beater if you have to for awhile. It will be worth it. By the time you see anything from this, the Shelby may be out, if you are interested.
Fifth, get a copy of the accident report. I cannot imagine there were no police at the scene. If the police were there, and especially if this guy was driving on a suspended license, there is almost certainly an accident report. Get it, it will come in handy. Whichever police force responded should be able to provide you with directions on how to obtain it. Keep in mind though that there may be a 30 day turnaround. Also, if the police took any photos, you will want those as well.
Finally, and perhaps MOST IMPORTANT. Find a good doctor and begin seeing a good doctor BEFORE you get a lawyer. if you go to a lawyer first, you will destroy your credibility.
And if that wasn't enough, get well soon.
Hope you find this info helpful. Just my humble opinion.

WOW, that bites. All that waiting and then some moron has to rear-end you!
Anyone know if this loser will go to jail?, or will they just take away his licence?
If they do that the moron will probably still drive!
Good luck getting another vehicle, and returning to good health!

I'm glad you didn't get killed. That's one nasty mess. The mustang did what it had to do and thats absorb the crash and protect the driver. Now it's time to hire a good lawyer and sue the donkey doughnut. Drive down to ford and put your name on the cobra list. Your setlement should be more than enough to get that baby. If you have persistant pain that won't go away , your talking about big money.
PS- In my 15 years of driving mustangs, I think I have had only 1 or 2 back seat passengers. Thank GOD that there wasn't anyone in the back seat.
Take care of yourself, get some rest and I hope you heal quickly. In the mean time , work on getting a good lawyer and let us know what's going on.
Take care mustang friend!!!
