It took me a while to post here, I was absolutely in shock. I'm an insurance appraiser, I see things like this for a living. But seeing this in the car I drive sends chills down my spine. I am very glad you're alive. I'm nearly speechless... wow. I sincerely wish you well, and hope that nothing like this happens to anyone else on this board.
On a side note: I'm all for small government and less laws, but one thing I wish our government, who's job is to protect us would do, is to mandate standard bumper heights. This is exactly why. Again, really glad you're going to be OK. I'll definately be looking for a car for you.

And what was the guy doing??? Trying to run the redlight into traffic? In a way its almost a good thing he only hit you. To think that this guy could have caused worse damage!

Idiots like that do not need to be in trucks that huge. Never understood the point of these trucks being on public roads.

I am so glad you walked away.. take care. Hope you get a new stang..

I have to say those pictures scare the h e l l out of me.. If my 8 yr old had been in that car she would be dead...

Another reason insurance companies are so uptight about tall suvs... it completely missed your bumper.

What adds insult to injury (quite literally) is that there is probably only minor cosmetic damage to his truck

Looking at that picture is chilling. .

He has alot of undercarriage damage on that truck - the wheels are not in the wheel well anymore...

I hope he ends up paying big for that accident. Any idea if he was high or drunk?

I had so many personal feelings when I saw the pictures of this accident. I too was in a horrible accident 13 years ago, and I understand the pain, and shock you went through just wanting to get the heck out of the car. I landed upside down in my accident with less than a foot of space to crawl out of. You and I are both lucky to be alive. We still have something to do...Anyway, what I was getting at, was that I literally got sick a couple mins after seeing the pics, and I threw up...
Chin up, feel better first, go to counseling, then worry about getting a new baby. I'm sure you will be on guard every time you are in a car now. If you weren't a backseat driver before, plan on being one from now on!

I am literally sick to my stomach. Knowing you are home, walking, talking, with no major injuries is amazing. VERY glad to know!

A couple things:

First about your physical situation: whiplash. Make sure you are treated for it. Even minor whiplash can cause SEVERE problems. Make sure you get therapy for it. My mom got into a wreck VERY similar, and they didnt find it for years. She now how to have cortizone shots in her neck. Also, 72 hours after the accident is the worst. Make sure to keep your limbs moving, stretched. I am sure the ER gave you after care, trust me, like someone else said, the soft tissue damage can be much worse than broken bones. Find a physical therapist, and visit them often. They have great new ultrasonic deep tissue therapies that work wonders. Take note of blurred vision, numbing in extremities, etc.

Second, your car: Wow... wow. This is not the way to see how the Stang does in a rear-end collision! However, I didnt notice any fuel leaking, etc. Maybe it was a good thing the truck was so high??? I dont know...

Finally, I hope no one is offended, but I had to smile.. The picture of the mangled trunk... Did anyone else notice the container of Armour All Wipes??? Only a real car person has that stuff in the trunk. Only able to smile knowing the driver is alive and kicking.

All and all, others have said it, I can only repeat: the car is replaceable, people are not. Glad you got a keepsake from your 05, hope you are in a beautiful new Yellow baby SOON!!

Well that seem to be all that I could find with in a larger area of where you live.

I hope it will help you feel better to know there are more out there and you can get another.
Get lots of rest.
