So happy you are alive with no broken bones. I'm lost for words. What a nightmare. I know that they can't bring her back. If they rebuild her she will have to be the billion dollar mustang, Better, Faster, Stronger. I would be sure that they do that. Maybe they will give you a new one, with out a long wait. You make sure that they give you lots of money for pain and mental suffering. Take care and rest. We are all here for you.

The car is totaled. They will not be rebuilding something that bad. I will get a new one most definitley. The police said it was a complete loss.

edit:

really really full size burnout pic: http://idahostreetracing.com/gallery/album...ril2_019?full=1

I just looked at all the pictures (Before your wreck), very cool, the black out on the back actually looks cool! Gotta like the burnout action. I'm not sure if I could bring myself to do that though (maybe a few times... tires aren't cheap.. heheeh) Not sure about that neon though

Looking at the pictures of your car in the sun and having seen yellow myself. I can't imagine how someone could miss it!
That "neon" is actually an SRT-4... with the right driver actually faster than my pretty little mustang definitley not better looking though

Just as a curiousity...what car did you drive before?

Oh...and please keep us updated on your case and hopefully whatever legal action comes down on this moron.
I drove a 1999 Yellow V6 Mustang. I sold it to my friend & fellow TMS member YellerPony99 when my 05 came in.

Note to self, noone rides in the back seat.

yeah, thats what I was thinking

Also, again, glad to hear you are ok, and I am glad to see how intact the [front] passenger compartment is even in such a bad wreck.

The other thing that caught my eye was the height of the pick-up. With it being raised up like that it becomes a real weapon from behind. If it were normal height it would not have gone anywhere near as deep into Emilee. Maybe they should not be allowed to go over a certain height to protect rear seat occupants in any car. That truck would have killed anyone in a back seat of any car I can think of. Food for thought I guess. Hope you recover quickly and get what you deserve from the jerk who hit you.

I actually found an idaho state law yesterday stating that bumpers can not be higher than 30" on 4 wheel drive pick ups. Measured from ground to bottom of bumper. Think he was higher than legal?

Oh...nice on the law. Can nail the driver and the owner of the truck (the idiot who let the other idiot drive).

As far as your older car, it probably would have faired the same, if not worse in the wreck. I think that '05 did you proud.

actually, i had been sitting at the stop light for well over a minute when he flew up the road and hit me. Police said he had no excuse whatsoever. it's BRIGHT yellow!!

He was probably on drugs or something, or just not paying attention AT all
no, could of been distracted, it happens, but it is still no excuse, at least nobody was killed
[/b][/quote]
Um, he was doing 50 and the light was red. Distracted? I think not. Criminally negligent. Methinks so.

not to be mean or anything-I can't imagine your pain, but I was wondering if you are rethinking how far you will lower your car this time?

lowering my car 2" had NOTHING to do whatsoever with the fact that this guy's truck was raised probably higher than the legal limit.

It STILL would have been no where near my bumper!!!!! a 2" lower vs. a raise that high (i don't even know the exact measurements, but WAY more than 2"!) is no match. i was screwed either way.

I will be lowering the new one with the same exact model of springs that i had on this one.

Sweet. I'd like to do the same. Seems like too much space between the top of the wheel and the fenders. Have you seen the supercharged GT in Motor Trend this month? It had to be lowered to help handle all of the extra power they fed it!

I agree with you, the car would have been damaged beyond repair even if your car was at "normal" ride height. Glad you're here to prove that the Mustang protects the driver, even in a horrific rear end collision.

Hope you're still on the mend...

Is the dude going down? Already without a license and he pulls this. Coulda been a fatality - easily (if you weren't there, he'd have ploughed straight into the intersection, right?). Hopefully they'll lock him up and save someones life!

SO glad you're ok, though.

I just ran a dealer locate. There are a total of 21 yellow deluxe GT 5 speeds in the whole country. The closest two to your location from what i can see is NM and MN. Most are in CA and the southeast.

Seeing those pics leaves me speechless. I think your car just became the poster child for a national standardized bumper height law. Your car gave it's life for your's. I hope someone takes an F350 and runs it right up that POS's ****. My prayers are with you for a full and speedy recovery. So glad you were able to walk away from that one. Get better real soon and into your next Stang!

I believe I would check into the law on that one, it may not be too
late for you to sue. Should be fairly easy to see what the statute
of limitations is for that kind of accident.

Indeed, the statute of limitations for personal injury resulting from a car accident is four years in many states, but depends on the state.

this is a picture my friend chris took on the accident scene with his camera phone.

undefined In my line of work, I see a lot of bad car crashes. This one is major. I join the many others who've expressed their hopes for your complete recovery.

Just a couple of observations...
1. Not only an F350, but a jacked up F350... vs. a normal size passenger car. Don't get me wrong, I'm not anti-truck or anti-SUV, but some modifications, like jacking up an already huge truck is just stupid.
2. As a future (hopefully) Mustang owner, I'm glad to see that the crush zone did its job. The trunk and rear seat area were completely sacrificed, but the front seat area looks to be basically unharmed. Good job, Ford. And, as a daily driver of a Crown Vic Interceptor I find it interesting that the fuel tank did NOT explode!

First off, Emilee, wow. I dont know how I missed this thread, but I want to say someone was defintely watching out for you in that particular time of life. Cars can be replaced, people can't. Glad you are still well enough to spend time on this board and post your story for us to read.

I agree with Randall, completely. Ford did a amazing job at keeping the passenger compartment as safe as possible. Props to HTT and others on the design crew.

Also Randall, Thanks for the career you have choosen. Its tough and has my upmost respect.
