Question??? If your car is totaled, do you get to keep it and sell the parts??
If so, strip that baby and sell everything you can. Everything has a price. engine, wheels , fog lights, front seats, dashboard, steering wheel. tranny, tires, wind sheild and on and on!!!!
When an ins co totals a car, they take possesion of it, pay fair market value to the clmt, and resell the vehicle for salvage to recoupe some of their loss. However, it's still your car, and if you don't release it to them, you can keep it and receive the fair market value minus estimated salvage value.

Sooooo, In this situation , with mustang parts in demand do you think it is worth keeping the car. yes there is a hassle of labor then selling but I think you could come out ahead in the end. What do you think?? What do you think is the fair market value for this car.

Get to a darn good lawyer NOW. Your health and safety is of prime concern. Thank God you are ok but problems can materialize later. Save all documentation and have all recommended tests run. Forget a Mustang - a good lawyer in conjunction with an insurance settlement or lawsuit against the offending parties could get into 6 figures easily.

Yes, I agree, I'm glad you're okay, I feel for you and know how you feel, I agree with Earl, you better get a very good lawyer in case of unexpected injuries. Best of luck, just be glad you're still here!

Emilee- I'm very sorry this happened to you and your new pony. The pics had my stomach twisted up in knots. I am so glad you weren't killed or critically injured. Take care of yourself first and worry about the car later. I definitely agree with seeing a neurosurgeon and getting an MRI. X-rays don't always show damage to the discs in your spine. I recently had back surgery so I'm familiar with some of the pain you are experiencing. The true nature of my injury didn't show up until I had an MRI. Good Luck and get well soon. We are all here for ya!

Yes, get a lwayer, but don't get your expectations too high. Remember, that in terms of recovering in excess of the loss of your car, i.e., property damage, the typical reason for the recovery s based upon INJURIES sutained, typically physical must be present in order to recover for emotional etc.

I'm sure were hurt, but at this point, unless you are still hospitalized, it is pre-mature to expect six figures. It may ultimately happen, but that will depend on your injuries and recovery, thus the importance of a good doctor right now, more than a good lawyer.

Unrealistic expectations are a primary motivator of frivoulous lawsuits and drive to increase insurance costs for everyone. Be patient, you'll know soon enough how badly you are permanently injured. Until then, don't expect anything.

Emilee - I've PM'd you in the past, and you know how
I felt about your car, with the modifications you made
it was as perfect as any '05 I have seen.

Best wishes on getting back on your feet, and in the
saddle as soon as possible. I am so sorry for your loss,
it just makes me ill to look at the pictures, and to think
about what could have been.

Did the idiot give any explanation for what happened?
Did he black out or something, was he on drugs?
I hope he at least got out to check on you.

How are you feeling today? I know you're sorer than sore.
Just take it easy and remember....time heals all wounds.
Take care.....Carol

Emilee - I am glad you are OK...those pics are chilling. Reminds me of my dad when he sawed off a telephone pole in 1984 in his '81. He too walked away.

I am also astounded, once again, by the character of this magnificent forum and it's equally magnificent members. Emilee shares a difficult moment with us all, and to a person we all send, not only our best wishes and prayers, but what? six? seven? people are looking for a new pony, and countless chime in with invaluable advice and very useful info....remarkable...

Emilee - you are surely among friends....here's to a speedy recovery and equally speedy remount!

yep you guys are definitley an awesome bunch here!!

I feel the same today *bad* and today my throat hurts like nothing else, it's been a little bothersome since the wreck, but today it's really bad. I think it's from inhaling all the black smoke stuff that came out with the airbag?

You're lucky you didn't have kids in the rear seat. Good to hear that you're doing alright.

WOW . . .

That's amazing. I'm so glad you are ok.

But, I'm happy to see the seats and air bags did their job. I was in a really minor rear end accident a few years back, and got wiplash. Stupid old cars.

That's just crazy. Those %#$%#&% trucks with bumpers 5 feet in the air. If there had been anybody in the back.

Emilee, that air bag powder is bad stuff . . . maybe you should see a doctor?

I was in the ER major trauma unit for 4 hours after the wreck.

I went and saw my normal doctor today too. There really isn't anything i can do for my throat besides stink on lozenges, she said it looks really red though.

What is that air bag powder anyway?

Its only a car, it can be replaced. That's what insurance is for. I am glad you, or no one else was seriously hurt. I hope you get better soon.
