Am I the only one who wonders why they made the v6 a slug for the majority of its existence, and just recently in the last few years gave it some juice? I've been wondering for a while but just decided to say something about it.

The original Ford Cologne V6, also known as the 'Ford Taunus V6', is a series of 60° cast iron block V6 engines produced continuously by the Ford Motor Company in Cologne, Germany since 1965. In its original form, it was closely related to the Ford Taunus V4 engine, adding two cylinders and no longer requiring a balance shaft.
Throughout its production run, the Cologne V6 has evolved from the engine displacements of 1.8, 2.0, 2.3, 2.4, 2.6, 2.8, 2.9 and 4.0 litres engines. All except the Cosworth 24v derivative and later 4.0 litre SOHC engines were pushrod overhead-valve engines, with a single camshaft between the banks.

It was used a lot in the Ranger but goes way back to 1965 as its origin for the Eurotrash market. Ford sure milked that set of blue prints. I was, well, a little of both, back then in 04 193 hp was an embarrassment especially when the car was limited to 115 (which I still don't understand) they could've done a better job with the drive train, I get it though, it's the economy version (that still had horrible mph ) and it could've had a higher top speed, but that's old news and it's done and over with, and the new v6 is much better, 300 hp is a huge gain over 193, it's good, but it could be better.

She must be Cherokee like me, look at those cheek bones.
What's the old saying? Fast, Cheap, Reliable. You can only pick two.
It could cost a lot more also but we don't want that. 300 is stout. I doubt if my old notchback was pushing 300 and it was a blast. Any more power out of the sixer will require more expensive materials and components. No fast car is gonna come cheap. They simply don't make a cheap fast car anymore. The faster they go, the more they cost. Doesn't matter how much it costs to build. You think a $1.5mil supercar costs $1mil to build? You get what you pay for buddy and your dollar is worth much less these days.

Clouds of Milky Way straight over the house. Beautiful!
It is phenomenal to try and grasp that those 'clouds' are jillions of stars in the spiral arm.
And phenomenally stupid for those that think the universe 'just happened'.

The most beautiful I've seen is driving over the Davis mountains in west Texas in the middle of the night in a clear crisp evening. So many stars it was amazing.

And crazy to think that most of the stars we see are actually dead!
