Minimal rear splash guard maybe?

The 2013s look fine -- but I've seen enough, so I bought a 2012 today. The track apps and 5-10% power bump (my guess) are not something that would cause me to delay a purchase into next spring. My 2012 rocks!

Can't believe no one has said anything yet but look at bright thin circle surrounding the HID projector beam. That is a halo light with the top trimmed. I like.

Can someone explain the candy cane look? I don't see it

I actually like the '10-'12 tail lights better, and I'm not even a fan of it

They're saying it looks like a candy cane because the reverse lights are between the red lens so it's red, white, red, white, red, like a candy cane. Let me add that I like it. My car is blue, so when you look at the rear it's all red, white and blue. AMERICAN !!!

Exactly.

Based on the way the vinyl cover is cut, you can tell that the center chamber has.the reverse lamps. It would be nice if they focused less on those on the refresh.

Boy am I glad that I took delivery of my 12 Stang! I believe that this is going to be the last great retro Stang. I am completely satisfied with the current front and rear of the vehicle. I can't tell everyone how many compliments I have received. I almost held out for the 13 and am glad I didn't... Plus I ordered and purchased it at invoice and they took off $2,250 in rebates on top of that. Loaded with almost everything including the electronics package I paid just $33,000 and change on a retail price of $39,195.

Next up is the new Escape as my everyday vehicle. Can't wait to order it up.

Ehh, I guess I'm a bit underwhelmed with the fact that every model features identical front fascias with GT500 nose cones grafted onto them. I can honestly say that, so far, I much prefer the look of the current car's front end -- whether stock or augmented with a Saleen grille like mine -- than what Ford's come up with for 2013. It may look better in person, but I still think the GT500 nose is too big and gaudy. Ford could have at least angled the corners or something -- I mean, this is the exact same nose that's found on the current GT500. I am excited, though, to see what Ford's come up with for the 2013's rear end and tail lights. So far, so good in that department!

I hate the GT500 nose for the same reasons you do.. It seems they must have had a surplus of hoods and fascias to get rid of!

The good news is that the better looking 10-12 GT/Boss nose should still swap to the 2013 car but it will require a hood swap too...

Don't be too fooled by all the 3M vinyl tape... I believe that reverse lamp is fake as well.. something like silver tape applied first then the rest on top. The only real part of the taillamp we see is the LED perimeter around the innermost section. It has already been described by those who have seen it as blacked out taillamps with LED perimeters in each section. So yeah smoked lenses would help the backup lamps blend in very well without the candy cane syndrome that annoys some people.

The reflectors in the bottom of the bumper cover is an EU standard... And if everyone here notices the license pocket is enlarged with trim that can be removed to accommodate a long Euro plate. The Mustang is preparing for RHD EU debut...

i agree 100% based on the info we got from those who went to the dealer show this is my guess. blacked out panel so the white reverse lights would be hidden when not on and outlined LEDs. my rather awful photoshop job...

I love your skill... Here is my try at it... LED Back up lamps can be hidden in the blacked out sections as well as another red lamp function. Obviously the LED outlines are functioning as running lamps.

If you study the picture with the third brake lamp lit you will see the middle of the red tape in the inner and outer sections lit on the taillamps as well. I suspect the blacked out sections will function as stop/turn lamps remaining sequential while hidden in the smoked section are LED back-up lamps as well.

The center section seems to actually be translucent but it might be a trick of making the preproduction lamps clear in that area instead of smoked as they should be, which would account for the complete covering of the inner and outer sections with red tape. I suspect the center section has the turn/brake lamp disabled to throw us off even further.

My fellow GT500 owners are not to happy at the moment. Ford didn't have to rip the look from the current GT500 and now greatly devalue it.

Ford ripped the 1969-70 Shelby look for all of the 1971-73 Mustangs so it's not the first time.

Of course Ford fixes what is wrong with the rear end and effs up the nose. I wish they didn't rip that GT500 look because to me the bulbous hood and nose of the GT500 looks heavy and bloated. I prefer the trim sculpted look of the 2010-12 GT/Boss nose and power dome hood which to me is the best looking nose from 05-13.

The new rear end is A+!

Even though it's only tape, I kinda like the splitter look on the tail lights.

Doesn't make sense to have multiple taillight designs. They'll use one across the entire lineup.

Can't remember who did the 'chop way back when the 2010 mules were out and about (have a feeling it's one of TN's) but it's pretty close

What would be great IMO is if Ford did a really small reverse lamp (like BMW) and hid it right in the middle of the lamp.

Ex.

During the day, they aren'y very noticeable at all.
