4. Get 13 cluster working in 05.
Don't forget enabling Track Key!

So to get track key, would it be as simple as flashing the PCM to a late 2014 build? Or is there actual differences in these later PCMs?

I don't want to flash to a Boss, as I want to keep MyColor.

I thought you guys determined that MyColor had to with the cluster itself and not the PCM?

I found someone on SVTP that is gonna work with Jon Lund about getting his Track Key tune pulled off with an SCT tool and Jon was gonna look at the tune to see what's in there and if LC is possible via tune or if it's gonna be strictly an IDS deal.

Track Key will need IDS or a 3rd party scan tool. The numerous changes are in the PCM firmware itself not just the tune.

From what I've heard the new 2014's that support track key control all the functions through the 4.3 LCD like the GT500 does. That is why late 2014 cluster needed.

I helped a guy that work at a Ford dealership with some IDS issues he was having because he was converting his car to an auto and was having trouble flashing his modules. Not to mention the tune he wrote for himself wasn't working. Either way he said he'd be willing to help out the cause. Obviously he isn't going to give me his user name and password for oasis, but he could look at stuff for us. So Matt if you have anything that you need that he could possibly help us out with let me know. Fyi, he said that SCT and Diablo were more than capable of writing a tune and using the track key to store it/operate it, but he said Ford immediately put a stop to them ever doing it. Not sure what that means, but apparently it's possible to load a custom tune with your track key.

I misswrote. You are correct, it is the cluster, not he PCM.

Dan,

You think that if we put in a late 2014 cluster we would be able to enable Track Key?

Yes. If any 2011-2014 car owner installs a late 2014 cluster then track key should work. Just have to find a tech willing to install it for you once you get it since may have to lie to oasis about VIN. Not sure.

Do we need OASIS? Isn't that only for loading the tune? Could we not just enable track key and load our own tune?

You need oasis to download the track key calibration file and flash the PCM. Track key is more than just engine management changes.

I was just offering Matt, in case his R&D needed it... lol. I asked the tech if I could just bring my SCT tuner and load my tune instead of the pro cal. He said no, even if I paid for the track key. He said Ford is really particular about the track key thing. They go off of the vin, to sell you and install it. I'm going to text him today and ask him what the steps are to get a track key and how they go about activating it through IDS and stuff. Hopefully it can give us some insight on what it is we need to do to make it work. Cause I know I want to have a street tune in daily driving and a track key with a serious tune to mess around when I go on track days and stuff. Yes I could simply load another tune, but that's not the point here. Ford needs to quite being a bunch of tight asses with property I've already purchased. It's my car, I can do with it as I please......

Amen.

And I agree - we can just load a tune, but it is also the cool factor of that key. Ford thought so too, otherwise they wouldn't have made the key in the first place.

The coolest feature IMHO is launch control. I don't want lopey idle and no use for pit lane speed control

So the tech told me that yes we could simply buy a code ($220 shipped from Tousley Ford) and if we could get IDS to recognize the SCT as a Pro Cal he thinks that it might work.

Matt, is it possible to load a custom tune into a Pro Cal? I say this because it might be easier than tricking IDS that a SCT tuner is a Pro Cal.

But we still need the cluster?

And Dan, you don't think flashing the PCM to 2014 is needed?

I've only used it twice since I did the cluster install and pcm flash. It is nice, but with out good tires it's useless even at the lowest setting g which is 3,000 RPM'S. I have MPSS and they spin. Maybe I should try a good burnout before I do LC next time to see how much better the car Launches.

Since oasis will flash the PCM anyway not sure if it matters what the PCM is currently flashed too.

I have a 13 GT Base with a 2014.5 Cluster installed. I bought the Track Key and the dealership was not able to program my car. They called Ford Racing and was told that they would have to send in my cluster to determine which one I have and work things from there. But since I turned in my original cluster as a core, I don't want my car being tied up at the dealership for a long period of time. So I'll just sit and wait to see what other's experiences are before I go any further with this.
