OK...Good news is I have the plug !!! The bad news is my dealer wants $450.00 core charge!! $470.00 for the cluster and 102.00 for the switch. All in Canadian $$$ :bang: Is this normal !!?? That seems like a lot of money !!!

Yes! The Cluster exchange Center has always accepted the Non Message center Cluster as a core at least here in the US.Our Clusters Come out of Ohio. I would bet yours do too.

So I should get that core $$ back then? If so its not too bad. However my dealer has tod me the cluster is not available. Im thinking of ordering off the website posted earlier. Am I correct in assuming I need only these 2 parts? (Switch & cluster)

A lot of the Members who had this done were told they could not get the cluster. The Dealer would try and order it online. It has to be ordered via Phone through their Cluster Exchange Center. I have called to check status for some frustrated Tms People and I have always found they had the cluster available. It may not show on the Cluster centers Computer but when they physically checked ,it was there. Of course this is in the US but I believe it would be the Same process in Canada. KEEP PUSHING.

I asked about the IUP when I went in to get scheduled service. They looked at me blankly, then told me it couldn't be done. The service guy told me that if it COULD be done, it would run in the neighborhood of $1000! When I told him that I could get him the order numbers for the parts and that it cost people around half that, he relented a bit and asked me to fax him the part #'s. I'm not terribly confident in their ability to do the upgrade, even if I give them the part numbers.

Well Guys - Looks like it ain't gonna happen for a while (IUP Upgrade) - the used unit that I bought out of a total turned out to be a standard cluster. He just used a picture of an IUP Dash and didn't know there was a difference.. So - I guess I wait a while or pony up the bux it will take to buy it all new...

I have a heckuva time finding this thread from the main entrance to this website - it's like it's hidden in a maze....

First thing do you have the Pigtail as described in post 1? If you do not have traction control you probably do not. If you do you are probably golden. For a Dealership an IUP Retrofit is an odd request. So do not be surprized by the Deer in the Headlights look. Have your Dealership Call me if necessary.

When I get back I'm gonna need your help to get this done. The local yocals here in Va probably have no clue how to make this happen.

Has anyone done this retrofit on a 2006?

I have a 2006 GT, which of course has traction control, so I lpulled the cover plate -- but cannot see any evidence of the required plug.

It Should have been plugged into the Dummy Plug. It may have not been snapped into place. You will have to Pull the Radio and hope for the best.

Kevin,

Thanks for the reply. I had misunderstood and thought there was a second plug laying loose or taped to the wiring of the existing plug ... when I looked again, there IS a plug that is plugged into the plate itself and (amazing) looks just like the picture!

Thanks again, I'll now see what I can do down at the local Ford dealership here in Austin.

Let me know what the Austin guys say if you would. The Houston dealerships are all "Huh? Retrofit? What's that?" and when I explain it to them they look at me like I've grown another head. Then they ask for the part numbers they'd need and, "We'll see if it's possible." Not comforting.

Well i've been thinking of upgrading since im sure i will in the future.. but i have a few questions.

What's the Cluster Center? Is it this place?Cluster Center??

Also about the core... tell me if i've got this right... i would buy a cluster from the cluster center for... around..lets say 200... and charged a core price of lets say.. 300.. so total i will have to pay 500 up front.. Then when i get my new cluster i will need to send in my old one and get my 300 back?

I really want to do this upgrade but im afraid of my Dealership giving me some story.. since i live in Stillwater,Oklahoma.. :bang:

hopefully the workers are smarter than the average Jethrow.. s/p? At least im family friends with the Dealership owner and since his whole fam. works there it may give me an advantage like is has in the past.... I guess the smart thing to do is to ask if they'll do it for me and how much before i buy my new cluster and find out they wont or "ford says no"
