MY COLOR RETROFIT INSTRUCTIONS {THE FIRST} MY COLOR 2005-2009 S-197 Gen 1
Another happy customer!
Got mine in now too. The dealer quoted me an hour labor to do the config upload, but I talked 'em down to a half hour too. Actually only took him about five minutes. He was able to just upload the config based on the VIN. Didn't need the old cluster. I had the message center switch connector hanging out of the center consloe, ready to swap, and didn't need to make any preparations for the cluster swap. It is sooo easy to do there is no way anyon should pay even an hour labor for this. After a little practice swapping out a couple of times beforehand, I was able to make the whole conversion in just a few minutes.
Other than the initial try to charge an hour labor, I had no troubles with this dealer at all. Plus they took care of the recall issue too. Accomplished by hooking up the same computer that they config your cluster with. Right on, No second trip to dealer for that now.
ahhhhh, now I'm happy! The deep blue color setting I chose looks really cool on
my '08 Vista Blue/Silver Striped, Shelby GT.
Thanks too all for your help. Buy logging your experiences, we all benefit.
I was real unhappy when I dicovered my car didn't have the IUP cluster. It has all the other features but the aluminun dash panel and steering wheel, but I like these better black anyway.
And special thanks to KC for taking this bull by the horns. (my dealer said it couldn't be done due to no wiring, they didn't bother to look. I took it to another dealer for the config!)

Some service depts are willing to work with you...some just look at you like some dumb customer who knows nothing about their cars. I know I made the tech mad because he tried to make the whole job sound so involved and I proved him wrong. Funnier yet was earlier in the week someone from the dealership called me and questioned me about why I wanted to do this swap. I felt like i was being interrogated by the FBI. It's not like I was cheating by getting lower miles than I had. I actually ended up with 400 more miles on the cluster I put in. This service dept is usually very cordial but for some reason yesterday the woman I dealt with was a real biatch. Oh well, at least it's done
It comes and goes in cycles it seems. I did however find this one on Ebay that has MyColor...granted shipping is high due to it being in Canada but it is from a GT and is in MPH, not KPH. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/05-08...WDVWQQtcZphoto
I just bought my '08 mustang GT. I didn't get all the options I wanted (specifically mycolor and message center) since Ford canceled my order (starting poduction of 09s). I'd like to install the cluster w/ message center, but can't seem to locate what I'll need.
I read through most of this thread, and it gave me a good sense of what I gotta do, but I'm still not having luck locating the parts. Anyone think they can help me track down the right parts?
Thanks!

Reading through all this has been extremely helpful, and I happened to find and order a 6 guage instrument cluster out of Texas for $100. According to the "auto recycler" it was a dealer return in new condition with around the same miles as my 07 Shelby GT. I also ordered the 3-button switch from local Ford dealer, who tried to sell me part number 18578 for $70 until I read page 1 here and ordered 10D889 for $50. So, my 1 assumption and 1 question are: The switches are the same, and 10D889 will work in the 2007 (assumed from page 1); and, are there any differences between instrument clusters 7R33-10849-GA (cars built before 12/03/06) and 7R33-10849-GB (or GC) (after 12/03/06)? My car was built pre-12/03/06, but the new cluster is the GC. Thanks in advance, and if this can't be answered before the 5th, I'll post my results.

Success!
As expected, the 3-button switch works great. Received the cluster yesterday afternoon, and in 10 minutes it was up and running. The tire low pressure warning was displayed the first 3 times I started the car, but cleared up on its' own. So, for $165, a lot of research here, and searching the Internet daily for 2 months, I have a fully functional and beautiful "new" instrument cluster. I used this address to find a used cluster, http://car-part.com/; and when specifying what part to search for, do not use "instrument cluster/gauges", rather scroll down to "Speedometer". Thanks for everyone's contributions here over the past 3 years.
BTW, the website above currently shows a 2007 cluster in Stafford, VA for $125.

I want to thank Kevin for enlightening us and making this swap possible.
I ordered the parts from Bob Utter Ford as many of you did, and the staff was awesome knowledgeable and had the new cluster and switch assy. at my doorsteps in less than a week.
I started calling a local dealer to get it installed, we have tons of Ford dealers in Dallas-Fort Worth. That's when the real fun began...
I went to Five Star Ford in NRH, I explained to the service guy what I wanted to do and he said it couldn't be possible without a new rewiring; I mentioned to him that I have read on this forum that it was a very simple swap and that many people have done the swap without a problem.. He replied back "well, the internet says I can fly, but I'm not sure about that". I was very disappointed at his response and left.
Called Don Davis, Payton Wright, and several others; they all said it couldn't be done some of them even said that I would end up spending about $1,000.
Finally I called Texas Motor Ford in west Fort Worth and Jamie (I hope I spelled it right) answered; he was a great guy, who talked to a technician (Salinas) and set me up for the next day. I drive into the service bay, Jamie calls Mr. Salinas and as soon as he saw the cluster he assured me that he knew exactly what I wanted. Mr. Salinas came back in less than 45 mins. called me and took the time to show me how to use the MyColor features.
I love all the features MPG, average speed, average MPG, etc. This is so awesome!
Thank you Kevin and everybody else for leading the way.

One more question...
One quick question:
I remember reading somewhere that you can setup an alarm, or beep on the message center when you reach certain RPM's. Does anybody know how to, or if this can be done? I just remember reading about it and now I can't find it anywhere.
