Awesome thread, I've spent the last 3 weeks (since I got my Mustang) trying to figure out if this is possible, even posted here (http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showthread.php?t=473316) trying to figure this out (thanks for the link to this thread Deric).
I have read every post in this thread but I own a 2009 Mustang and I don't think anyone else on here has posted results for one of them yet, so I still have a few questions:
What is the part number for the 6 gauge cluster for an '09? (One dealer told me the IC is the same for '07s and newer, but I don't know that number either)
What is the part number for the Info center buttons for the console?
Can I install the Info center buttons in advance of having the new cluster installed? Or should I have the dealer do all of that?
If I can do it myself, do I need to disconnect the battery first, or anything else?
Thanks guys. I'll post the name of a dealership willing to do the work in the northern Illinois area if I find one.

Thanks for the information KC. I called a local dealership and asked for a price on the parts. The guy at the service desk didn't sound confident that it can be done, but I told him what the thread here said and offered to bring in the details.
He's willing to try it if I am, so we'll see where it ends up. I also noticed when I was removing the console to check for the switch wiring that I have a plug for the console colour option. I'm assuming if I bought a new console with the button it would work as well. I don't want it, but perhaps someone else is interested in that. Maybe someone here can confirm the presence of the plug = feature availability?

Hello everyone. I'm new here and this is the greatest news. I've been searching every since I received my 2007 GT/CS. When I ordered it, it was supposed to have IUP, but the dealer messed up and I didn't get it. The car was to good to pass up based on that though. Since, I've looked everywhere tryign to find out if the IUP w/ MyColor was possible and could never find anything. The service guys where I ordered the car weren't sure either, thinking that it had to be factory installed. After reading all of the posts here, I'm wondering the the wires for the MyColor buttons are known to still be included on the 07's. I saw one post where someone with an 07 GT said it was a direct plug-n-play. I just wonder if he was lucky, or if all 07's still included the wires. Do any of you happen to know? I'd rather ask before I try to remove the blank panel that is there now. With my luck I'll end up breaking something trying to look, LOL. Thanks for your help.

You will never know for Sure unless you Check!

AronG2974, I've never tried anything like this before, and from start to finish it took me maybe 15 minutes to remove everything to check the wiring and put it all back. You'll need a Philips head screwdriver and a little patience.
Good luck!
Oh, I got word back from the dealership I contacted, they want $960 for the new cluster, the info center buttons and labour. At that hourly rate they must have lawyers doing their installs.
I'm going to call around for a price that isn't ridiculous.

Hey KC,
I finally heard back from a dealer in the area that can get the cluster and the button, but they are quoting 3 hours of labor at $109.
From everything I've read on the forum here, this is no where near a 3 hour job. I explained to them everything I've been reading, but they don't accept any information/advice sourced on the internet.
I offered to do all the manual part, just needing the download and upload of data, but I don't think they're keen to have me do any of it.
This is the dealership's first time doing this kind of work and they used the Ford system to estimate the hours to do the work. Does 3 hours sound right to you?
I know you have assisted others on the forums here by talking to their local dealerships to assist, is there any way you could help me out with this?
Thanks for any guidance/help you can offer.

I have the factory-installed, active anti-theft in my 2007 GT/CS. I'm thinking of having the retrofit and was wondering if anyone has had any issues with the new 6-guage cluster and the anti-theft system. Any issues with the system not working after the swap, or anything like the little light not flashing after the system is armed? Thanks for all the info. I've read through the forum many times now trying to make sure I have all bases covered.

Most of My Assistance is on the Install not the Price. On a Good Note $109.00 Is Not Bad. We are out in the Sticks and our Labor Rate is $85.00 an Hour So Do the math at three Hours. $109.00 is Not a Bad Deal at all. Some Big City Dealers in Ca. Can Be Double our Rate BTW.

The steps I believed were involved are as follows:
- Download data from original IC
- Pull IC bezel
- Unscrew 4 bolts securing the IC
- Remove fuse for SRS (airbag)
- Disconnect neutral battery lead
- Switch on ignition for 1 minute to verify auxillary power for SRS is depleted
- Turn off ignition and unplug IC from car
- Plug in new IC, fasten bolts, replace SRS fuse, reattach neutral battery lead
- Turn on ignition to verify SRS is functional
- Upload information to new IC
- Drive home happy
Unless I'm missing something huge here, I just don't see 3 hours of labour, I but I'm not a mechanic and could be way off base here.

Realize Dealers Labor is charged by FLAT RATE. They have a Book which States the Allowed time a Specific Operation calls For. In the Case of the My Color installing the Message Switch Which Calls for a Radio Removal by the Book BTW. Most People Just Snap the Cover Carefully out and Snap in their own switch. You can Save that side of the Install. As Far as the Cluster itself it is no Different than Simply Replacing a Bad Cluster with a New Cluster. So Labor time Should Be Listed in any Dealers Book for that. FLAT RATE is Not this Job will take an Hour so we charge an Hour it is more of an way of charging for a Specific operation. Some Operations Pay More than the Actual Job Takes in Man Hours and Some Pay less. As a Rule Warranty Time is Less than Customer Pay time. It is Very Hard for a tech to Beat Warranty time these Days!

All I was waiting on was the completion of the project so I could verify a few steps that I'm inferring from the thread, service document I've been going over and what the dealer actually ends up doing.
I appreciate the responses I've gotten, but I'm so frustrated with trying to do this and feeling like nobody gets what I'm trying to say that it's just not worth it.

I did read every post, several times in fact, and compiled a Word doc. of instructions pulled from the forums and my own research that I wanted to post for anyone on here to follow if they needed it.

If I want to do this, can I just go to a dealer and ask them to order the following parts and install them in the car?
Instrument Cluster # 5R3Z-10849GB for 2005 Ford Mustang GT
Switch Assembly # 4R3Z-10D889-AAA for 2005 Ford Mustang GT
Thanks guys. Love the thread!

Hello all, This would be my first post and wanted to say hi to everyone. Now down to buissness, I found this post in my searches and im interested in upgrading my cluster for my color. I have a 2006 standard mustang V-6 with no bells or whistles
(nice spoiler though) and I wanted my color. I popped off the plate cover where the switch would go and there is wiring plugged into the back of it. Just wanted to make sure this is the wiring everyones talking about. Next I went to my dealership to ask them about parts and labor and well basically it took about 2 hours to half way figure it out because they didnt even beleive me that this was an option till I thought to get out my owners manual and show them. They found very little refrence to my color in there books and schematics but by the end they somewhat knew what I was talking about. They "think" (their word not mine) I would need a cluster the switch and some other stuff I dont remeber totallling over a grand just for parts. I knew i wasnt really getting anywhere and thought I would research further. None of the clusters they could find in there computer mentioned a my color feature. Do all the 6 gauge message center clusters have my color? Could I just tell them I want them to swap it out for one of those and add the message center switch? Or is there a better way to explain it to them? Thanks for any help!
