They finally charged my card tonight if the core is $300 like he quoted me. Then I paid $278 (this includes next day shipping). So it's still $100 bucks cheaper than through the dealer, if I get the full core back as I was told I would.

I am supposed to recieve the cluster in the morning. I'll be waiting at home for it and I'll take it straight to the dealership where my car is waiting. Hopefully I'll have good results to post tommorrow evening. Everyone keep your fingers crossed for me.

that sounds like a great deal!
We are putting a down payment on a new house tomorrow so I am done for now, but the good news is is that the house has a 2.5 car garage!

I just got it back. The service manager said he was really impressed. It worked out great. He was going to start offering it to everyone that came in in a GT.

Man it's so cool. I really wanted the guages and the info center, but I didn't think I would care about the my color. I've been playing with it since I picked it up. Kevin thanks a bunch for the switches and the help.

Will this MyColor/Message Center/Cluster mod work on a 2005 V6 coupe or is it only GT? Does the wiring already exist in the V6? Also, any news on if Ford is restricting dealers from doing this work? Has the MyColor option been removed? My sales guy is blowing me off since he already got most of his money, but I would still like this feature. Yes I should have ordered it up front but so it goes...

Thanks for any info.

Kevin,

As far as I know the mod SHOULD be identical on the v6 car.

Does anybody have the part numbers needed for a 2005 Ford Mustang GT to add the
My Color Option. I already have seen the switch assembly listed here on this forum,
I just need the instrument cluster. Seems like every Ford Dealer's parts department
keeps telling me you can't order it - because its no longer available. Is it because of
this lawsuit from Mr. Frank Weyer ? Somebody should go out and shoot this guy !
(Only kidding) I mean who does this guy work for GM ? Either that or he took a big
payoff to start all this from GM.

Dealer is telling me the part numbers are:

Instrument Cluster # 5R3Z-10849GB for 2005 Ford Mustang GT
Switch Assembly # 4R3Z-10D889-AAA for 2005 Ford Mustang GT

Now they don't know if this is the My Color Instrument Cluster - so they are clueless.
Also I purchased a 2005 Ford Mustang GT with IUP and the salesman is telling me this
doesn't come with My Color option - How can this be ? Or does this guy not know what
he is selling ? See Attached Sticker

Thanks 05stangkc !!!!!!

05stangkc you were right ! Broke out my manual and tested it out today on my lunch break. Seems like Ford dealers need to train their sales people a little better. According to him and his manager this Pony had no "My Color Option" even though I pointed out to him from the start that this car had the interior upgrade package. I was under the impression the interior was later added by the dealer to pass as a IUP. I was soooo happy to find out I have it !!

Heath,
Did the dealership give you a warranty?

All ford parts are covered by a 12 mo 12,OOO mile warranty whichever comes first. I believe any part installed during the 3/36 basic warranty is covered for the balance of that warranty but I would have to research that further. But at the least A genuine FORD part should have the 12/12 warranty. I will double ck this!

I really hope this will fit on a V-6, and I hope that come November/December when I am going to try to do this it will still be available!
