Man, that is awesome news! I think I talked to someone about that a while back and they said it would not and then asked why I would want to anyways. Personally, I used to live in Germany and my goal is to hopefully get my stang up to par to be able to at least keep up with some of the competition on the Autobahn today. So I would like to see how fast I am really going.

For Those Doing the Conversion It is Best to Purchase the Cluster from The Dealer Doing the Install. That way you Do Not Have to Ship the Core back to the Other Source and If there is an Issue with the Cluster Such as Shipping Damage you do not have to deal with a Thrid Party. Also Odometer Fraud Technically Makes It Illeagal to be Selling these Clusters via Mail Order. At least in California I was Told I could Not Do it. Just an FYI!

I wonder why the dealer in Texas is allowed to do it ? Maybe it's a state law . Now ya have me worried !!! Once Im done I will update on any issues or problems. My dealer here in Canada was way too expensive !! By the time Im done, if all works right, it will be about $200.00 cheaper !!

Well I got the part numbers from the guy in Texas. He quoted me $272.67 + $300.00 core for the cluster and 36.05 for the switch.

I ran the same part numbers off to my dealers parts department (in Illinois) and they want $394.00 for the cluster and 75.00 for the switch (he said the core was $700). Then they said 250 for labor. My God. Anybody know any dealers in Illinois that can handle this cheaper?

I don't know how much a V6 or GT cluster is but I bought my GT500 cluster for $223 from Steve at Tousley Ford (Minnesota) with a $300 core. I live in Arizona. I gave him my VIN and mileage. Once I received the cluster, I took it and my car to a local dealership. The mileage discrepancy was less than one mile. The dealership charged me $190. What a ripoff.

I then took my My Color GT cluster and had the same dealership install it into my wife's non-My Color V6. The mileage discrepancy was a negative 19 miles. Another $190 out of my pocket.

I look at this this way: I got a GT500 cluster in my GT, got a My Color GT cluster in the V6 for a total of ~$600.

I just called up my local dealer and they said they would not do it because I would be bringing them the parts. I wish I lived somewhere else. There ****ed because I am getting the parts somewhere else.

OK...I Just got my car back from the dealershiip. Total cost for the install, including servicing was $214.00(Can). That included a service (Oil change, tire rotation...ect..) The cluster works great !!! I can't wait for nightfall to see the mycolor option.
Just want to say a huge thank you to 05STANGKC ......and to Stephen at Suburban Ford in Victoria. They were very professional and did the install with no problems. If anyone is in the Victoria area and wants to do this call Suburbarn Ford.

Exclamation Is it okay to disconnect?

Is it okay to disconnect the instrument cluster if I am putting the exact same one back in? Basically I am replacing the entire instument panel and need to remove the cluster to get the panel off. I am currently in the process, so quick responses are appreciated.

Hey Willie!

Hey Willie!

Have you tried driving down the freeway side-by-side with your two Mustangs to see if the speedometer readings matched?

i.e. Setting the cruise control at 70MPH and see if one of you pulls away from the other?

I'm curious to see if there's any discrepancy between what the GT says with MyColor, and the V6 says with the standard GT instrument cluster.

Also, were your alarms coming in both the GT and the V6, or just the V6?

I look forward to hearing your answers, Nate.

I have a quick question...I have a chance to get the MyColor cluster from an 05 GT for real cheap. Would I have any issues using it on my 07 V6? I have the plug in the blank so I'm wired up to go. I know the dealer would need to program with my cluster's info. I skimmed over the 220+ posts in this thread until my eyes started bleeding and really didn't see anything saying yes or no. Any help is appreciated.

It would Likely Work But your Mileage Would Be Incorrect It can not be Programmed at the Dealer Level. Also If you Had a Nav Unit it Would End up with an Error Code But Since you Do Not I believe the Mileage Would be the Only Issue. No Guarantee Though!

Very cool - congrats on joining the party! You may be the first 08 to have the upgrade done, as well as the first GT/CS.

So what you're saying is that they cannot download the info/mileage off my stock cluster now and upload it to the 05 GT cluster after it is installed?

Correct. That is Something That Only a Cluster Repair Center can Do. Depending on What the Mileage is on the 05 Cluster Hopefully a bit More you May want to Wait untill Mileage Matches And Install at that point. If you Do not Know what the Mileage is you could Install for a sec and Ck it.

It has 30K miles on it...I have 3,600 miles on mine, lol. Looks like it'll be my mod to do in a few years. For now back in the box and to the basement it goes...kinda like a time capsule except I know what's in the box and I'll be waiting anxiously for a couple years, lol!!! thanks for the info Kevin!
