Just wanted to take a moment and thank you for all this information. I printed it out and took it to my dealer today, glad to say that the parts are on order and the installation is scheduled.

Dont remember exaclty,

The cluster was 2XX
The switches were like 35 (I put them in before taking the car in)

They had the car for 2 days if I remember right (had to order cluster after getting my old cluster out)

They charged me 1.5 hours of labor I believe.

That number is Aarons extension, he'll get you goin.

Had my cluster changed today, at SENTRY LINCOLN MERCURY, Dorchester Mass, 02124. 617-825-8900. Ask for Mark in parts room to order...Mike in Service to install. Should run near 500.00, took about 2 hours. Tell them Paul with the Blue 'Vert recommends the shop. A FANTASTIC UPGRADE! Thanks KC!

I was talking to a local dealer about this upgrade a short while back and they indicated that the mileage has to be programmed into the cluster by the cluster center rather than the dealer. If this is the case how does this effect the order? Does the dealer take the mileage from the vehicle and then hold the vehicle till the cluster comes in? Do they note the current mileage and ESTIMATE what the mileage will be when the cluster arrives? If they do the latter and their estimate is wrong what happens then?

I just had my cluster installed at :worship: Milham Ford in Easton, PA and they did a great job. All that they did with regards to the milage was guestimate what it would be when I took it in. The day that I had the install done my milage was actually 10 more then what was on the new odometer. No problems at all, they did the install and everything works perfectly.

Had my IUP Cluster/Message Center upgrade performed by Ford of North Scottsdale in Scottsdale, AZ. I was their first upgrade customer and they did an excellent job. $519.00 installed. Well worth the money IMO, especially if you drive at night and can use the My Color.

Kevin,
My car was built 2-21-05. Hubby says the he saw the plug assembly when he installed the XM radio. Went to dealership today and they said FORD told them the MY COLOR couldn't be installed.....only at the factory. "If it didn't come with it, then it can't be added." I've read all over this post it CAN be added.......can it still be done? I'm in GA. HELP!!

Sounds like time to talk to a DIFFERENT dealer! It's very possible your dealer either doesn't want to do it, doesn't know how, or has a Ford Rep who is providing mis-information.

Steering Wheel - 4R3Z3600CAA (I was told dealer must temporarily disable airbag to install)
It's just a matter of pulling a fuse out of the smart junction box (located on right side passenger kick panel).

Once you locate the correct fuse and pull, turn on your vehicle. The airbag light should stay on for at least 30 seconds (should stay on the entire time, but you only need to count to about 30 to verify it won't go off).

That will indicate that SRS is disabled.

On the "the cluster center programs the milage" issue:

Does this mean that I have to park my car at the dealer until they get the cluster in? Because I can't do that...I have to drive my car around.

I have a friend who put 1,000 miles on his car from the time he ordered the cluster to when it got installed. After it was installed, the 1k miles magically disappeared.

Good luck... as I got my cluster and switch now only to discover I have no wiring for it.

Well, today, I talked to 4 different dealers all within 50 miles of us, and 2 were supposed to call me back with whether they could or would do the upgrade and never called. One of the other ones still insists that FORD says if it wasn't factory installed, it can't be installed. The other one referred me to one who hasn't called me back yet. :nono:
I need a dealer east of the Mississippi River and south of Virginia who's willing to help me out. Anybody know of a willing dealer??!!
:bang: :bang: :bang:

Has anyone in Florida had this installed on their car?I have a V6 and would love to have it put on mine so just curious if anyone in or around Orlando has had it done locally.I guess I had better go out and check to see if the wiring is behind the blank switch panel,I bought my V6 last Novenber so I hope it is there. If anyone has had this installed in central Florida let me know what dealer and what it cost you.Thanks.

Well,I guess I wont be putting in the MyColor option, just went out and took the blank switch cover off and no wiring /plug behind it.I looked all around in that area with a flashlight and didn't see any kind of plug back there in that general area.So I guess I will have to spend my money onn something else.Good thing that it was mentioned about looking for the wiring ahead of time.Has anyone else had to back off on this install because the wiring was missing or is it hidden some where else.

I have. I'm still trying to get the complete harness, though. However, the dealership told Ford that they wouldn't do it because it would be an "unauthorized aftermarket modification." I don't see how, though.... but I've been saying that all along.
