Isn't that how all male populations work?

Yep full velvet still. And yep that's how it works. The only other time I see them all together during the year is when the fawns are born and the coyotes are trying to run them. They huddle up between the dogs and the does. It's really cool to see.
We have some impressive bucks this year from the looks of it. Really wish they would allow us at least a bow hunt day to thin some of those guys out. Dang nature reserve here.

No kidding, I'd love to take one of those with a bow but at this point they seem so calm around humans, would it have the sake fair chase feel?

It wouldn't really be a hunt. They just hang out next to the road. It would be more like target practice. Lol

We watched it one night a couple years ago. About 12 bucks huddled up with the does and fawns in a field behind them. All staring down the coyotes. We drove the truck between them to get a better look and they never took their eyes off the dogs. Watched a doe run off a couple dogs by herself earlier this year. Just two dogs though. Not really a pack.

Everybody around here keeps a donkey or two in their cow pastures because of the coyotes. The donkeys bond with the herd after grazing with them for a while, and when calves are born they get really protective of them. Coyotes come around and the donkeys will chase, bite, kick and stomp the **** out of them, kill them sometimes.

Days off here are sacred. They may call the house if they need extra coverage but just don't answer the phone. If we do have to go in for a reason that is cancelled (doesn't happen often) we have the option to take 5hrs pay and just go home or stay for a full 12. They can't force us to leave just because they screwed up the overtime. It helps us to keep them from screwing up calling overtime. They have literally called overtime for two hours worth of work and had to pay someone for 12. They can find us extra work to do the rest of the day or just eat it. God bless the unions.

Haven't worked in a little over a week. Went in yesterday to get my decoration presented and had a feedback session with my boss. Kinds sucked to have to shave. Have to clear some offices today and tomorrow and then clear the base on Friday and then I'm off until at least 6 September!
