Here the forest is all pine & fir on the mountainsides and most of the valleys. The aspens are only along creeks and at the edge of the lake. Probably 95+% evergreen. So in the winter you have white with green - no 'dead' look in the winter.
I love it. It played a large factor in moving here compared to Missouri's virtually all deciduous.

It's a mix here. We've got a big bunch of them around our house. I still prefer leaves over needles though. Not fun to walk barefoot under a pine tree.

I had about 8 pine trees when I bought my house. Absolutely hate those things. Got rid of three next to the driveway to go from a one car wide to 3 car wide driveway to accommodate all of our stuff. Then we slowly got rid of all of them. Got tired of pine needles clogging the gutters and chopping up pine cones with the tractor....and don't even get me started on the sap. I like the greenery too so we planted a bunch of leyland cypress to replace them

I miss it too. Technically I guess I'm in small town USA now but I grew up about 15 miles away in straight country. Would really love to move back but wifey is afraid of wildlife. Lol
