Gary, if I were in your position, I'd just leave the stripes like they are, or have none at all.

True true and I seen a couple that made me puke a little in my mouth on the plane from Reno to S.F.

I like them the way they are. I'm not changing because I want to. I'm changing because I have to.
The stripes are about 2 years old now. While the car stays in the garage all the time, you can tell they are beginning to age a bit. Plus its a PITA to wax because of the lip at the edge of teh stripes.
So I wanted to get them made permanent, just like they are. Only problem is the satin clear coat will have the exact same effect. There will be a lip at the end of the stripe. So I will have spent thousands for the same result. I could do the ghost stripes in a kind of black and charcoal mix but then they won't be matte black and that's what I really want. I could have a pin stripe painted to hide the satin to gloss clear coat difference.
So other than removing them, I haven no answers other than periodically replacing them.
It's annoying. If it were any other color stripe I could have them painted on and be done with it.
