The Boss is Back! 2012 Boss 302
I agree there are plenty of versions of Stangs with the goodies but not in the GT price spectrum which speculation the BOSS will be. Roush, Saleen, Shelby all are in the mid 40's to mid 50 price range which i hope will be above what a non LS Boss will cost. The genesis R spec is a $24k car an EVO X RS is a 27k car.. Its not surprising they don't come with goodies. But I would expect a 36-45k car(which is what I'm expecting the Boss to be) to have some goodies to go along with the performance.
I would like one if it could be had separate from the stereo, dual zone A/C, etc. I would like to make a data logger app for it, no need to be lugging around an extra laptop when you can enter session info and plot data right from the car, then save to a USB for future use. Would be tres cool.
You'll have to help me find where the '69 Boss had "all the comforts", because I'm not finding anything past vinyl seats and AM radio in my searches. In contrast, the 2012 BOSS has an AM/FM/CD (assuming it's MP3), and oh look, there's even a button for Sirius radio.

My reading comprehension is fine, thank you. You'll notice in a previous post of mine, I said if these things mean so much to you, you can have them added at the dealer. Therefore, one could say they were... "options"? I know, it's tough to 'comprehend' the difference between factory options and dealer options. Crazy....
I support you wanting to make a vehicle your own, with whatever options make you happy. (And for the record, I wouldn't mind seeing leather trimeed Recaro's as an option.) I just think that requesting certain options indicates you've missed the point of the vehicle. The BOSS is a purpose built, performance oriented track car. Certain things just don't need to go in a track car, whether it's streetable or not. Asking for all the electronics and nav stuff in the BOSS IMO is like someone requesting the SVT Raptor come with the option to add wifi, heated/cooled cupholders, and an a/c outlet to plug your laptop into.

Show me where I asked for anything other than Sync HIDS and leather. I have shown optioned 69 Boss 302's in pics so feel free to go back and look. Having Vinyl seats/radio/back seats goes again what many in this thread envisioned in a Boss 302 even though all the originals had them.
IT boils down to people wanting different things. I just want more comfort to go with the performance.. And am more than willing to pay for it.
I do believe reading comprehension isn't your friend. Name once that I have asked for any dealer installed or altered goodies. I asked for factory options like any other stang.

Seems like you're the one with the comprehension issues, my friend. I'm not implying you ever said you were hoping you could add these things at the dealer. I'm saying, stop crying about them not being offered from the factory, because you can still get them installed at the dealer. Therefore, it's still an "option". Regardless of whether or not it is a factory option or a dealer option, it's still an option. Ford didn't offer a factory supercharged 2010 GT (Job 1 at least). That doesn't mean you couldn't drive up to your local dealer and have them install a Whipple, backed by a factory warranty. I can take my '07 F150 in and have them install a factory remote ignition system. Point being, you have options, whether they come from the factory or the dealer.
See PTR's last post. Seems you are missing the point of the BOSS 302. The brochure is there in color. It is not some stripped racer. That may be what ford is now pushing. But its heritage is not that. Since heritage seems to be what everyone was throwing at me in this thread.

So, what's wrong with buying a GT in your favourite grabber colour, ticking all the options, taking it down to your local race shop and removing the back seats as well as fitting new adjustable suspension, do the usual bolt on modifications and get it tuned, order a Boss 302 sticker pack off ebay (and while you're there buy some copies of the Boss rims), and live happily ever after?
It's quite disappointing to see that the last five pages are filled with bickering about what-ifs, and very little mention of what a great offering Ford has provided you with.
If Ford ever read this kind of nagging they'd be forgiven for thinking "why did we even bother".
/yes, I'm in Australia and I'm a little jealous we're not getting it, or any Mustang.
Hats off to Ford. The attention to detail is very respectable, and this car not only pays true homage to the original, but is also relatively affordable to the masses.

Also, I'd like some rear window louvers, to complete the old-school look. Might as well buy these babies, then.
I know the topic of several options has been beat, but I have read all of this and yes, I do understand what the Boss was intended to be in regards to it's historical counterparts. With that said, it still means that some less cushy options might be something for Ford to consider.
Some of you are saying that it should be a cookie-cutter version of it's 1969 self. So, should we rip out anything that wasn't present on the '69 car? Let's yank stability control, traction control, Brembo brakes, the alcantera seats, etc. so that it's a direct copy of that old car.
I don't think the options like an active security system, Sync, and HIDs are out of the question to ask for on the car. I never said the Shaker 500 should be on the car, and I would understand why it wouldn't be in the car. Modern technology should be on the Boss, and little things like that make it even nicer on the street, and won't take ANYTHING away from it's abilities on the track.

The security system, Sync and HID's would be welcomed features that don't detract from the orginal seeing how we are 40yrs where the original Boss 302 was introduced!!

Dude, I totally would love to do that. If they offered built in, interactive data services straight from the NAV screen, THEN I would consider it. Otherwise, I have a fully loaded Cobra for the top speed and comforts piece. I want my Boss to be a little rough around the edges but smooth on the track.

Totally agree. I'm not quite sure why there would be two models otherwise.
